Hi guys,
still trying to solve my intermittent power loss problem and pretty much all suspected parts have now been replaced except the MAF sensor. This is because niether Nissan or Ford can supply the part. The only way to get your hands on a new one is to buy a whole throttle body unit at a cost of £850+ vat... I THINK NOT!!!!! :banghead

Any ideas? I seriously suspect mine is dodgy and need to find a replacement :nenau

Got to be the scrapper or a breaker....NissanFirst seems to get good press on here.

Have you disconnected it and run without to see if its any different....or tried cleaning it with a good few squirts of carb cleaner (which is the best stuff) - if the wire is covered with shite it affects the temperature and thus the reading sent to the ECU....just be careful not to touch the wire...some people use a cotton bud but better to leave alone if it looks shiny after the carb cleaner....(that stuff shifts all sorts)

im confused.

whats different between a MAF fo ryours, a 93 model, and mine, a 97 model? I can get one for mine online for about £180, have you got any pics of yours??

this is strange , ive just been out to the car with a torch ( its dark outside ) ive spent 5 minutes following the pipes from the air filter to the turbo , and i cant find anything with wires attached , ive found quite a few pipes going off in different directions , but no wires or plugs ...but then i cant really see all of the engine bay .

confused in brighouse

hay, thats unfair..

yours is cleaner than mine!

I understand that the MAF is only fitted to the inter cooled fly by wire engines post 1996, so I guess you wont have one Mr Brigg. I see you have your car back after its many transplants,
how is it running? regards bri

Cleaned mine yesterday with a cotton bud and some meths. Have to say the car does seem to be running better.

Ah forgot it was one of they Mistral things.

It has a device that is effectively exactly the same thing as a MAF sensor and measures the mass airflow to give a signal to the ECU, except its called a MAP sensor...stands for Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor, and the name gives you a clue as to its location.;)
