Hi guys can anyone tell me the diff. between 80w/90 API GL5 LS (LSD oil) and 80w/90 API GL6:augie
The kids have bought some of the later made by Castrol as they were told by the man in the shop "it's good for racing":sly
It's castrol B373 specially for LSDs and biased towards competition diffs?
Can I use it safely?
Cheers:cool:

Castrol do say that BG373 or B373 as its called these days is not suitable for road use, but I've used it in the past in road going as well as rally escorts. Smells to high heaven though lol. GL6 is just an even higher spec of oil, even more resitant to degridation from shear forces etc.

Thanks Simon, I'll give it a go then and see what happens:sly
Used to like the smell of castrol R :naughty

i still have a litre of castrol R in my garage, i put a drop in the escort petrol tank now and again just for the smell :lol i would run it on R if i could. :naughty:lol

How did you get on with castrol b373 pete?

Bit skint at the moment, Can get it for £6 a Litre. Want to spend some money on snorkel bits too.

I'm guessing it's likely to be better than whats in there.

Other option is Millers Oils CRX LS 80w-90 which is £42 for 5L

I know it's expensive for the 3 ltrs or so you need

Actually it was very expensive as i done all me oil's at once :doh :lol

I'm likely to go for the more expensive one from opie, Shame I didn't order before as opie was doing free delivery with stickers and air freshner.

& bloody VAT :augie

Use the Comma stuff Fez it's about £3 a litre. Mind, you don't get any free stickers with it though so maybe the Opie stuff is a better deal ;)

Na that deal has ended.

I saw the comma stuff, Will pop into my local motor factors this week.

Well I did use it and have had no probs :thumb2 as you saw the other day it's certainly limiting slip:thumbs
Have you tried in Cambrian sport on the trading est in Aberystwyth:sly

I've tried nowhere yet, I rarely go into town (aber). Went in today but forgot, Probably closed anyway.

The Comma oil is made by Castrol anyway, I used it as well.:thumb2

anyway went to my local industrial estate, Normal motorfactors I go to wanted like £14 per 1l for the millers stuff. £55 for 5l. !

Luckily I inquired at a place nearby that I have never been to. £36 for a 5l bottle of millers stuff!! Bargain!! Going to get all my other oils from there in the next few months.

Pete if you want anything phone camsport on the ind estate in aber. You never know. My mate can also get discount, I didn't get discount this time as I wanted it asap.

looking at the reciept for garage work prior to my mot ...... they charged me £20 ( including vat ) for the supply and changing of my lsd oil , they said it was 3 bottles , presumably it has the 2.8 litre diff ?
