lower gearbox rubber boot split

Hi All,

been absent for a while, as the wife has been driving the terrano…. anyway, I got it back for a while as "it smells really funny when you go fast"

anyway, I did a bit of a search, and discovered info on here about the rubber boot under the main leather one possibly being the culprit. I took a look, and lo and behold, the boot is split with a big gap around the top.

I decided to do another search, but cant find the part number for love nor money, and google isn't throwing up many leads either.

does anyone know what part it is im after please?

I had no luck finding a "New" replacement for mine, and in the end, I fixed the rips using a cycle puncture repair kit...

I cleaned up the area with methylated spirit, rubbed the rubber cement all around the area, and then a patch applied over the rip... it worked a dream, and 4 or 5 years on, is still holding up.

under the shift transmission control diagram, it shows the exact boot. it says "see section 341"

only in section 341, it doesn't show the boot :doh

that said, I have found a very similar looking boot - part number 32862-05G60.


EDIT! I have fount the part number! - 32862-G2300. now, off to find one.....

if I can find one in a location other than blooming Australia, I'll get one ordered and report back :thumb2

also found that it may go by a slightly different part number - 32862-G2300/05U00

ive found one for £15, so ive ordered it and will let you all know.

keep us informed, you made better progress than me...

Any one else noticed how often you search for something on Google, and get hardly any results, then a few days later do the same search and there are 100000 results...

I swear it looks at my searches and then decides to go and see what it can find out, so when my wife looks for it later, she can say "there are loads of results, it's just like a man not to look for something properly!!!" :doh

If its the main boot between the gearstick and the transfer lever then the part number you need is actually 74967-7F000.

cheers Banshee. it's not that part, but it is good to see it out of the car so i have a better idea of what im going to be dealing with
it is the small rubber gaiter that goes under that main one - it seems its more of a seal than a gaiter.
the one i ordered has arrived, so with a bit of luck i'll get it fitted at the weekend and let you all know how i got on.
