Hi all.
Some advice needed please!
I've recently bought a rough old '98 2.4 petrol swb Terrano...
All ok until recently, when I noticed sometimes the idle speed will drop from around 900rpm to around 500rpm.
When driving at, say 60mph on an A road, I've also noticed it intermittently feels low in power for a short while, then comes back and all is normal.
My question is, does anyone know of a common failure that might be the cause before I spend money on changing things?
All help much appreciated!
Gary.

my old 2.4 petrol had similar issues and it turned out to be a stuck egr valve.
Also a good service and new, plugs leads and dizzy cap helped to get her running right again.:thumb2

I see you are in Derbyshire just like me,im in alfreton.

yes egr valves stick open, I have had several and all the same, you can drill a hole in the egr actuator and then drive a nail down to drive the valve closed, but better to insert a thin metal sheet to stop it altogether, any tin can will do, Rick
