well went for a run out tonight and when i hit a hill about 50mph there was a drop in power and the engine management flashed, only once but it flashed soon as i was at about 40mph things returned to as it should be, its fine on level road and down hill it just going uphill, i'm suspecting the maf but am not 100% has anyone else any other ideas? i need to get it sorted a.s.ap as robynn is at the hospital next week and as you know its a long drive to birmingham from derby.

i know nuffin mate , but is it a fuel pick up issue ? ...... if the mil flashed there will be a fault code stored ...... have you read the codes ?

hi my brothers mitsubishi done something like this it was put in to the mitsubishi garage where he was told the turbo was over boosting

You running veg ? What mix ?

I had problems at 95% veg 5% petrol

Now perfect in this cold at 90/10%

But other wise I'd say maf if your fuel lines are sweet and mini filter and fuel filter are ok

Also get a gen maf from Nissan don't be tempted by a non gen as I was ( ended up throwing that in bin and spending 70 on gen )

cant see it being a fuel issue or it would be there no matter what speed i was doing,

My mil light comes on and it goes into limp mode on 95% veg below 5 degrees ambient temp

unplug the MAF, see if it does the same, although for me, if it were the MAF, you would notice lack of power way below 40mph. Which MAF do you have, Bosch or HItachi?

dunno what maf it is, i'll be taking it off tomorrow for a clean, i'm currently running on 50/50 veg and diesel i'll replace the fuel filter next week aswell just in case

well i've cleaned the maf and theres a little difference but the error is still there when hit 50mph so i disconnected it and then it struggled to get to 30mph will replace fuel filter in the week when motor factors is open

its a bosch

i dunno how much use this is to you , but ive spoke to my mate stuart , who knows everything about nothing  , and he reckons its because of the cold weather affecting the viscosity of the veggie oil , when you put your foot down or go uphill ( in other words under load ) , because the oil is that thick the pump cant pull it through fast enough .

hope that makes sense .

well thats good then, because they are much cheaper and more common than the HItachi, but you cant really clean them and get much back from it, so id buy a new one!

Not the case here as he's running 50/50 mix

ok maf has been cleaned, no change, so today decided to do fuel filter and they gave me the wrong fookin one

so put the old one back on so can go down and stamp on their heads when i noticed this

this pic is with the engine off

and this one is with the engine running

so its a issue with the fueling somewhere, it could be the veg/diesel mix but can't see that as its 50/50 or it could be the priming pump is fooked, i'm suspecting priming pump but just to be sure i'm gonna go and bung a couple of litres of petrol in the tank to thin it out more and do some cleaning of the pipes etc.

fuel filter

hi
i had this happen to me the fuel filter primer done this a couple of times when i changed the filter under load it sucked the plunger down causeing no fuel to get threw so i replaced the filter again but filled it up will fuel before fitting and it has stopped the plunger going down i think it was because the fuel pipes had air in them when you chamge the filter so you need to make sure there is no air so bleed out as much as you can i lossened the feed pipe from filter to engine and pushed primer until just fuel leaked out then whilst holding plunger down tightened the fuel pipe back up so any air then would go out via the pumt its now running fine hope this may help

well did a nice long drive tonight, truck has got more power and is more responsive, deffo no more fault codes or loss of power, who would have thought a fuel filter could cause so much aggro
