well had noticed a scrape sound and a judder when braking while reversing, i just thought the drum brakes had a slight binding, then today a total loss of brakes, foot straight to the floor

luckily i was near home and could drive back using the gears as brakes, pulled onto the drive and popped head under the truck and could see straight away the ns front wheel was covered in brake fluid (either that or it had pissed itself)

so first thought was maybe the bleed nipple had failed, so whipped the wheel of and discovered this, there was no brake pad on the rear of the disc

didn't have time to do the brake disc so thats a job for another day, i will however be going down the mot place with the calliper i removed and demanding a refund of some kind as i didn't get the service i paid for, to say i was angry is an under statement.

well after i fixed that side i thought i better check the other side and luckily there were 2 discs in place

so for now the brake pads off the old chassis are on, they're fairly new anyway but will be replaced with new just as soon as louise is home and on the mend

geez they were in a bad way, just as well your were not on a motorway, brake rings arrived by the way, thank you, Rick

Ouch....

I was at our local Halfords Autocenter the other day to get my tracking checked, and while I was waiting, I was looking down what their 6, 12 and 24 thousand mile services covered.

It was scary, as basically, when you look it is all just check this and check that, with very little actual work. Most of the checks, are stuff you do on a regular basis just cleaning and keeping the car running anyway.

When you read down it, apart from an oil, oil filter, and air filter change, the rest are mainly just checks, and some actually only say report if serious!

Anyway the good news is, even on the most basic service they would/should have picked up on your brakes, so I think I would be threatening who ever you went to with being reported for such a terrible and dangerous over sight, after I had asked for my money back of course..:)

holy poo mate  ........ glad ya found it now and not later
