Hi everyone, asking for help, I have a 94 ford maverick 2.7 td and have just noticed that the windscreen wipers are loose, this is the stubs that the wiper arms fit on to. Is there a fix i.e. new bearings or do you have to buy a new linkage assy. Cheers:bow:bow

Is it just the arm that is loose on the tapered stud, if so you could fit some thin slivers of soft metal between the shaft and the stud, and when you tighten the nut, the soft metal "should" compress enough to give a good grip.

I guess you have been trying to clear snow and ice off the screen:doh:doh

thin copper or maybe even shim steel might work.

Scrape out the splines on the shaft and the wiper arm, as the arm might have been stripped.

best regards,
Rustic

EDIT...
You could always drill through the wiper arm, then the stud and put in a pin, or nut and bolt..

.

No its the shaft part that the wiper arm attachs to. that attachs to the rotary linkage.
Thanx for your reply rustic.

There are plenty of scrappies about, but it normally is quite reliable.
Which also means that a second hand one will probably have plenty of life in it.

Try cncfabs...

Unlike some items like ignition barrels/ switch, false economy buying as you will end up buying twice.

best regards,

Rustic
