Any tips on how to fit? I've heard I'm going to have to drill 2 holes for the top two brackets and the bottom 2 attach to the towing eye ends?

I'm sure it will make more sense in the morning in the light

Even came with 2 Hella spot lamps and wiring for £70 :D even managed to wangle a 45 gallon oil drum out of him and a drivers side heater vent for the dash as mine had broke for an extra £10

You finally tracked one down:thumb2:clap

When I fitted one to my terrano, there was already bolt holes under neath, just had to clean the Crap out of them and it bolted straight on, as for mounting it at the top I wouldn't bother as you want it to flex slightly if you hit somthing or are offroading, I've had mine ground a bit when offroading and it just flexes out the way:D

I met him in Burton Upon Trent not to far from one of our offices actually, he's got plenty bits on it still the body is rotten beyond belief but everything else is in good nick :thumbs

Yeah this one looks like is been grounded before actually lol There are a few scuffs and dirt marks on it but you won't see that when it's attached, I'll have to see if the holes are already there failing that I'll have to get the old drill out

There are 4 pre tapped bolt holes already there, but 2 are used by the towing pig tail. I unbolted the pig tail, and then put it back on over the bull bar mount. I had to order the bolts off of Ebay, as I did not have anything that big.. (M12 x 25 BOLTS 1.25mm FINE PITCH)

If you wish to use the spot lamps, you will want the top braces, otherwise it will vibrate all over the place, continually bowing the bulbs. Not only that, but when the Garage crashed my Vitara, and did not tell me, it sheared the top mounting bolts, and that combined with the extra work on the bottom brackets, caused the bottom mounts to shear off about 3 weeks later.

When I fitted mine it lined up and bolted to the tie-down eyes, leaving the pigtail untouched. I used 16mm stainless nuts, lock washers amf bolts (so I could take it off again easily for the Spanish MOT).
The top mounts are a pair of L-shaped arms, about 8" long, these bolt directly to a 6mm threaded hole either side of the radiator. On my pre-intercooler model these emerge between the bottom of the grille and the bumper. At the other end they have a slight turn to allow them to line up with a pair of lugs welded to one of the horizontal cross tubes. If you don't have these they should be fairly easy to make.

Would it fail a Spanish MOT with the Bull Bar on then? More to the point would it fail a UK one? As far as I'm aware these were optional extras when the came out of the showroom as new so they couldn't fail it surely.

It was a hard plastic one for a SWB, he'd sold it by the time I'd got there else I'd have had that as well, not seen one of those before!!!

Spanish law states that unless an accessory was already fitted when the car left the factory or fitted by a main dealer, with documentation to prove, then it is illegal and is an automatic ITV (Spanish MOT) failure - this also applies to the spotlights. Any such accessory has to be shown on the Spanish version of the V5. My towbar could have caused a fail sheet, but for the fact that it was already fitted when I imported the car and there was nothing to prove that it was not factory-fitted (it's a genuine Nissan one that I fitted myself in the UK). I fitted the bullbar after re-registering the car as an import, hence it is not shown on the V5.
The Spanish are very hot on any changes from the original spec (I heard of someone who got a fail because he had rubber door-edge protectors fitted, although I somehow doubt that one!)
A friend of my daughter had his Shogun fail because he had a towbar and ball fitted - he drove around the corner, got his spanners out and removed the ball, drove the car back 10 mins later and got a pass! Apparently if there is no ball or hitch fitted you cannot use it for towing (which is also illegal in Spain unless the trailer/horsebox/caravan has also been MOT'd) so it was allowed. A ludicrous state of affairs - he drove home and refitted his towball, safe for another year, I will do the same with my bullbar.
The only time you can come unstuck is if you are involved in an RTA and the Policia/Guardia are involved, they inspect your V5, which you must carry at all times, and anything fitted to the car which is not shown on that V5, you will reported for and fined.
It's a minefield!

Further to the above, considering how many 4x4's over here are raised, have multiple spotlamps, snorkels, non-standard wheels and stick-on window tint (illegal) there must be an awful lot of cars being driven illegally!

After spending a holiday out there, I am really surprised they are so strict, as we saw some right dodgy cars on the road.

When we went to pick up our Hire car, we had to get them to come down and look at it, as it had been involved in an accident, and all the front end was stoved in. The basics like lights were still there, although the indicators were cracked, but the bumper and grill were wrecked. They insisted that it was still OK to drive it. I got them to sign the paperwork, and took pictures, with their guy standing next to the car to prove it was like it when we picked it up, as they would not change it for another one, no mater how much we asked.

Agreed, there are some real wrecks, accidents waiting to happen. I can only assume these cars are neither MOT'd, insured or taxed. Where I spend most of my time, halfway between Malaga and Marbella, probably 5% are running on British plates and have been for years, this means they are not MOT'd, there is no tax disc on the windscreen, and any insurance they have would be declared void because the car is being driven illegally.
It's only in the past couple of years that the authorities have started to take an interest, spot checks are almost a daily occurrence, but the illegal cars seem to remain.

I did too, but once the bullbar bolts were in I was able to replace the towing eye bolt. :thumbs
