locked out of terrano

battery has gone flat on my terrano so i can't unlock the dooors on the fob and to top it off the lock seems to be knackered and the key keeps jamming in the lock.
getting close to the house brick method:doh
any easier way to get in or just to get the bonnet up so i can drop the jump leads on it:nenau

had a go at that but it was too dark and cold to carry on poking about.
wasnt sure if i could get the front grill off and pop the bonnet catch so i could get at the battery.
will probably have another go when i finish work tommorrow.
not too much of a problem as its the terrano i have just bought so its not on the road yet but its not parked on the drive very well and its a tight squeeze to get my other one on.

WD40 in the lock and wiggle key gently up and down.

or

The stiff fibre glass band from around boxes. Fold in half and crease the centre flat. Slide between the door seals and steer the band by pushing one end at a time. If it's long enough you may be able to snag the interior lock handle and pull it.

Hi elton
can you get at the starter motor with jump leads + to solinoid cable from battery and - cable to a good earth point.
It should work then remote should also work.

If you have a 12s socket (grey one for caravan fridge etc) connect + pos from a battery to pin 4 at the bottom (direct feed from battery) and - neg to center earth pin.

first thing i did.even the red master key dont work the door lock.
asked the guy i got it off if he had ever had any probs and he told me that he had never used the key in the lock all the time he had owned it.

yep tried them all,got 3 keys and none work which suggests to me that its probaly had a new lock on.

a new lock or all new locks? if i remeber correctly a T2 has more than one door lock? isnt there one on the passenger door and rear door?
if so have you tried them all?

my other one which is a 96 square headlight mk 1 has a lock on both front doors and on on the boot.

I see, is it standard to have no door locks on the other doors then? the ones i have had have had them on both front doors and the back

not sure:nenaui was positive that my other 1997 model had a lock on the back door.
gonna have another go at getting in it shortly but its soooo cold out there,had to snap my dog off the lamp post earlier:lol:lol:lol

Door locks.

Had same problem with door locks not working on key OR remote. Went round every lock and door handle/catch and squirted lots of WD40 into every little orifice using little the plastic tube. RESULT:clap.
Noticed that after using WD40 frequently I have lost aches in finger joints. I even rub it into my arthriticy knees now.:thumbs Sorry-ZIPPY 656 no pics of knees. Too knobbly

Last Christmas I had a prezzie of a battery powered key heater ... it looks like a remote key, but instead of sending a signal, you put the key part in to the lock, press the button, and it heats up the key part, de-icing the barrel of the lock. May be worth looking around the car accessories shop for one.

I had a similar thing to this for my first car when I was 17, it's called a box of matches:lol

Unfortunatley in this case it's not the lock thats frozen.

PS I still think a good squirt of WD will sort the door lock.
