Had a great day out at Slindon today, locked front diff was perfect, went many places previously not available, basically went everywhere, did have to winch a few times when I bellied or laid over onto passenger side into the mud and nearly rolled it at one point when water on off side was far deeper than nearside, but due to the locked front diff was able to screw it round to get level again and claw out of the hole, have some video of the good bits but although I did do an upload some while ago I cannot remember how to do it, anyway have a look at this, would you commit your latest pride and joy to this, Rick

Sorry after I typed my bit the paper clip was gone so I do it now, Rick it wants me to resize the pic sorry cant be faffed with that suffice to say it was a range rover up to its head lights in Slindon mud and it was the latest model, how naff is that, probably had low profile tyres but could not see his wheels, Rick

Loaded at last, Rick

oh dear, glad it wasn't mine. How did they get it out?

We did not stop to see but someone must have got wet to attach a line and winch him out, what was most funny was almost everyone at the site came for a look, (word gets round very quick) it was a long time before he was free, the motor did run after, so Tara (my daughter) said but I think it will have suffered a bit, not least by a blocked rad with the mud, so hope he took it easy on the way home, we on the other hand had a fantastic day, and now found the need of some more mods, the fuel tank has to go, at one place the motor was laying so far over on the nearside with a qtr tank of fuel the engine stopped (fuel pump in tank not in fuel) so had to rely on battery power only for the winch, it just lasted till we got on even keel again, having nearly turned it over, now wondering if I should not put the rear bump stops back, (perhaps makitfit will have a comment on this) it was a bit hairy as we were in water at the time, and rolling onto the off side in 2ft of liquid sludge was not a happy thought, Rick

Rick I think you're better off without the bump stops. Assuming the the shocks are long enough the axle will stay on the ground longer and so give you the chance of staying on your feet. Have you got the arb off ?

Front ARB is off but rear is still on :doh forgot all about it, but the fixed front diff is magic, Rick

Nice one Rick :lol Loose the arb :sly
Locked diff does sound the mutts :naughty

OK will do, as well as the fuel tank which is now well dented, Rick

Plan is to do a Banger style tank on the roll cage, about 4 gallons with sealed breather and anti spill even when upside down, just need as always, time, but can you tell me how to upload video as I have forgot, not that I really knew, but have some good vids, but do not know how to upload them, Rick

YouTube is your best bet for video

Then just copy the 'embedded code'

Cant you do an ordinary tank with a remote pump?

Remote pump!
If it's the Td or Tdi, doesn't it rely on the pump on the engine?

Re: seperate tank, you can always stick it on gimbals, then it will still supply fuel at angles greater than 45 degrees.:nenau

Rick is running his petrol engined terrano :thumbs
Boat technology won't quite cut it off road as the angles and inclines are too extreme including some sideways action :augie

He must have something special on the plug leads and distributor, I had a mini once and a puddle splash was enough to stop it.

The T2 petrol is surprisingly well sealed on the high tension side, I have jet washed the engine bay many times with the engine running and washed all the mud from the distributor and plug leads etc and its never faltered, re the fuel tank I will design it tall so even at good angles it will be good especially if I suspend the fuel pump on its rubber pipe, it will then fall to the same side as the fuel, biggest problem at the moment is to stop water entering the air way, will go for a snorkel at some stage but far too much else going on at the moment, Rick

Well here goes, loaded a Vid to you tube now I got to try and get the link on here, Rick
