location of thermostat on 3.0 td zd engine

anyone care to confirm this, as have horrible feeling its out
of reach down left side (looking forward) of engine.
sure on r20/t2/2.7 tdi was nice n easy on top/side of block.

looks like going to have to take fan and its cowling off and
maybe go in between alternator and aircon.

oh joy, pity didnt do whilst was all off doing pump.

done, but what a tango-whisky-alpha-tango

fits blindly sort inside/behind the water pump
under the alternator and above aircon.

ideal job for a child lowered into engine bay!
or would suit a dentist as needs mirrors and a
good light...

test run and behaving, mind was doing solo
anyway, still plenty of heat in car and no
obvious leaks.

followed workshop guide, but differed slightly
as didnt take off air tube but found easier
access to bolts by taking fan off.

about 3 hours, making sure could get bolts
out before draining coolant.

so hows it running now mate? I will be of for a few weeks tomorrow so text me to let me know. I have a mobile dongle being courriered to me (allegedly) before 12 noon tomorrow if it turns up and works i will be on here otherwise I hopr you have fixed it and have a good summer!

sucess finally 200 mile tow to mid wales fault less, ok she gets warm still on hills but cools again and better still no engine check light fault warnings, which must be first time to not get light on at some point on a journey as often came on solo too.

feels more responsive too, so even with heat there was no loss of coolant to the overflow tank and after couple of hours water in rads was free of pressure and almost cold again.

I love my truck again, well was starting to lose faith in it, didn't want to, but don't woory back up plan would have another terrano2!

im off tugging....




my tin tent in a few weeks, down to mid devon... i found where to wholesalers are so I can use svo and not diesel.. so hopefull holliday will be a bit cheaper on fuel.. or well do LOADS more miles per chip!!!
