black box with some electronics it , directly under the ignition switch

basically the alarm went off car fills with smoke
i pull the battery and take the cowling off
item is smoking...

i havn't seen one on our motor, perhaps it's an after market immobiliser,

well in that case yes they are usually bypassable on most cars... but never done one on a terrano

on volvo you just unplug them

pugs are tricky as they control the fuel pump and have to go in there but still doable
