right i have used the search but now my head hurts their is so many different ways to do this :doh

right from what i have read is that first remove arb at the rear and leave fronts in place

second wind up torsion bar for the front to lift

3rd raise rear with either
1 spring
2 spacer
3 dislocation cone

but what is the easiest and cheapest to do? guessing they are all pritty much the same jack up rear axle one side and allow the spring to drop and replace with which ever part you want

also what difference is their to a spacer and spring and a dislocation cone in the real world is one better than the other ?

also the wheel spacer does this help in stability when i have removed the arb by giving me a bigger foot print ? also allowing a wider wheel ?

what size in inches are the 235/75/15 wheels is it 28 or 29 ?

what i defo need to do at the mo is place my electrics on bumper or something and remove stabilizer and also try to refit my but up sump guard

in regards to sump guard why is it so low when the sump is relatively high :nenau

now body lift is something that i don't really want to get into as i don't want to fit 33's or 35's lol

but how much clearance would i gain from the diff with 31's or 30's

Putting 31" tyres on should give you a good couple of extra inches clearence, but will affect your gearing quite a lot (slower and more fuel use)
Also I lifted an independant 4trak 2" and it buggered its off-road ability as the front had to be wound up so much that the car lost pretty much all downwards articulation (wheels lift off ground and loose traction very easilly)

I'd try and find a happy medium where you retain some articulation...

Howabout having a spare set of steel wheels with 31" tyres for off-roading and wind your front up to match the rear. I bet that gives you an extra 3" clearence in the centre ;)
Plus you'll still have your original wheels for road use!

PS- I know of 3 steel Mav wheels going very very cheap! :)

also do you have to remove rear arb if you don't want extreme articulation?

if you reindex the tortion bars, i think you can keep the articulation..

lol joe cant get very far on 3 wheels lol

the problem is storage no garden to speak of being in manchester i have a little diddy area as a garden and cant see the wife being happy with 4 or 5 wheels in the front room under the telly lol

the thing is i would like to keep the towbar on cause if i was to go camping and playing i would have to piss about and thats the main thing that is causein the ground outs going up

needed to raise the front anyway

i think it will have to be trial and error might just look at a 1.5" raise at the front

forgot to ask what is the standard height of the front to the hubs

i think on the landy they have a flat tray on some towbars so they dont get hung up on there towbars.. part of a tank guard as well..

will go look...

is their a how to on this?

with the damage to the rear of the car yesterday the rear does sit too low so would like to get that up and with out the aid of £400 set of tyres

i will probably keep mine till they are worn or i get a cheap set

i dont think i actually bottomed out on the diff just the body and tow area and front lol

or do a search for "reindex" will pop up a few other threads ...

just do a 2" body lift and bigger wheels . it wont bugger your steering but will give you the same lift as all the other messing about

the only real lift , on the axles is from bigger tyres/ wheels

body lift is the best way forward

body lift can be a pain thou so i have read with bumpers and radiator and brake pipes :nenau

i dont want to go past 31" tyres as this is the daily drive and no other cars in the house and the larger tyres can mess with gears and what not on the road wilst towing so i have read

you dont need any lift with 31 inch tyres. just buy the tyres ,,, simples
