Why, what could happen that would cause you grief? Your plate can be cloned on the street any time of day, and so what if someone forges your VIN? I'm not aware of too many competent forgeries, the numbers have to be ground off and re-stamped, invariably badly, and forging a manufacturers VIN plate well is probably only economically if you've knocked off a Lambo.....

Just get a personalised plate. They don't get cloned.:thumb2

i bought my plate of here lol,it replaced my klukluxklan one lol

You won't find my VIN on here, I changed one of the numbers :)

Theres loads of different ways to get cloning details :thumb2

Number plates are the best because once it comes down to VIN anyone with the car is usually stuffed.

Just beware of anyone paying too much attention to (as in writing down) the VIN if you have one for sale :thumb2

But like I say, WTF are they going to do with it? Have you ever, honestly, seen a professionally repoduced VIN plate? Its just too difficult.

And why shouldn't a punter be able to write your VIN down so he can do a proper HPI for example? Your recommendation young man makes it too easy for the crims.:naughty

Thats where discretion comes in.

Yes I have seen a crim vin. It was very well done :thumb2 admittedly it was a few years back when processes were in place to allow replacement vin plates to be fitted quite easily.

Ford floor stamped vins were very very easy to replicate for example. With your taught engineering skills you could do it. I can with practice and I can definitely rivet a vin plate close enough so the casual observer doesnt know the difference. Some of the twerp ringers couldnt even make them lay flat :doh:doh:lol

Im talking about someone who you pick up the vibes theyre not interested in or knowleagable about the car but dead keen to write down say the vin, not arsed about mileage, tread on tyres, service, even hearing it run etc etc.

Had one come round to look at a metro (sorry Rover 100 :augie) we had years ago. Fit the description easily. Left quite promptly.

Scrotes used to actualy get dressed up smart (best trackies and Adidas copied T shirt) and get off down the dealers to do exactly what Ive described above to look out for.

However visible vins changed all of that and make it dead easy for the ringers anyway.

Just watch out for who's taking interest. Your instincts are usually correct :thumb2:thumb2

Yep, readily available at £70 each.
Correct font and size, reverse punched so the letters/numbers are raised as per original.
Only "fault" is they look a bit new.

well thats me bolloxd then LMAO!

Its all public anyhow....
A lot of modern cars now show the VIN through the bottom N/S corner of the windscreen...
So wander round any car park and you can collect as many VIN's & respective license plate numbers as you wish!
