lever stuck in park auto gearbox

anyone share views/ help on this one cheers in advance for the help....brought caravan down to house stopped put lever into park on the auto-box, then had to move it again the lever would not come out foot on brake pedal, stuck solid..daughter who is quite small said that there was a littk red plastic wedge running down the back of the lever into the top end of the auto-box fiddled about with it came out easy still would not come out of park she pushed lever down then it came out of park..can anyone tell me why this is doing this as when i put it into park i have to fiddle with small red lever to get it to release where as before i pressed footbrake and moved lever into drive???

when you put your foot on the brake pedal you should hear a relay click, this releases the park lever lock then on,
if not then the relay has gone, the red plastic thing is for when you have to move the vehicle for example when there is no electrical power to the vehicle ,

i had this happen after going through a deep ford last year i didnt know about the red switch then.

so it could be water affecting your switch underneath i assume it has one?

do you have any other elcetrical problems as a faulty battery clamp can also affect it i had one of those and when elctric goes totall off you cant get the key out of the ignition ( thats what i found)
