My terrano is letting in lots of water both of my foot wells are saturated and also the footwells in the back are wet but only the 1st 4"from the door , ive cleaned put every possible hole i can find ive had the hose pipe on the sunroof for an hour and still no sign of any leaks , any ideas its driving me crazy .

Three main areas of water ingress at the front are pretty easy.

Open the front doors, look behind the hinges at the bottom. your actually looking in to the void behind the plastic wing liner. Theres lots and lots of mud build up at the bottom, this causes water build up and it usually finds it's way in to the car. also the sunroof drains dump their water there too so the sunroof can't drain either. Squirt a hose in there or a soft stick to help loosen the mud.

Above the passenger side foot well there is an access panel for the heating system. from the out side of the car remove the wiper arms and the plastic panels that the wiper pivots poke through. Below this panel you will see a square panel on the passenger side. Remove this panel and seal with automotive sealer, silicone bathroom type sealer will work but encourages rust.

Now the sunroof! the drains as mentioned before can clog or the plastic tube come loose behind the head lining. The drains can be found at the front corners of the sunroof frame with the glass retracted back. One way to check is to get some nylon strimmer line and feed it down the drain, I got mine to poke out under the front of the car near the mud flaps. Not sure if I've seen a download in the quick links section regarding the sunroof drains.

Also remember that if the car is parked in a slightly different way water might not ingress too. good fun tracing it but you will get there in the end.

get the front mudflaps off, especially the near side.

clean out crud and hose out.

muck there allows water in over the sill.

i found it was coming in behind trim where bonnet release,

we also had water in the sills swooshing? back n forth

the sills drain at leading edge of rear arches, theres a small
hole, ideal for a wire coat hanger, staighthened out to be
pushed in and up, stand back or have wellies on lol/

Jim has covered most of the issues on the front foot wells :thumb2:thumb2

Take some white kitchen roll and press into the damp carpets, check the colour and smell to eliminate coolant.

Rear foot wells,
Do you carry a dog in the back, or your granny :augie :lol:lol

If not, it could be your rear door cards, behind these there is a polythene sheet that must be sealed all around, otherwise you will get this problem.

Our Picasso has under floor compartments, which I happen to keep my tools in, and this was flooded with 2" of water. I joined the Picasso owners club and this was a common problem. I removed the door card, and I could see a small crease in the poly liner and this was letting water in.
Re sealed it, it has been dry inside ever since.:thumb2

To locate the area which is leaking, I used the kitchen roll at vulnerable points.

Also check your sills are not full of water, there are drains on the inside of the sills, with a very thin slot in them.
Some cars suffer from rotten sills and this is probably the cause.

Best regards, Rustic
