Ok so got some roof bars coming, the variety that mount I believe behind doors.

So subject to them clearing multi storey barriers whats the recommendations on
flood/spot lighting, wouldn't mind markers too if any bars can offer side/dr lights.

Imagine would mount to front or under bar to keep height down.

Watches this thread with interest. As all the questions I was gonna ask have been asked :lol

Not got led lights. But I under mounted my light bar,

Can fit under 6'

5'11" they touch the bar

Zippy do you bring the wiring into the door seal further forward, c'mon pix.

Figure thats a CB mag mount under your rail.

Nope, cables 2 pairs run down out side each side is split, on if fuse blows only lose two lights, not a four.

Yep mag mount, has 2' and 4'. Keep 2' in car .

I'm still in the middle of mounting my LED lights & Roof Rack setup, but I did have the same setup on my discovery.

It had Air Suspension and I was in a Multi-Story carpark with the car riding low... Somehow, (probably because I went over 5mph) the suspension started to raise itself and I scraped the fook out of my lights on the ceiling! :doh

Going back to the LED's... I bought the spot light version and they were mounted at the front of a full length roof rack. I found, that unlike halogen spot lights, they couldn't throw the huge amount of light they created very far and they seemed to reflect a lot of the bonnet! (If I tilted them skyward to stop the reflection, they didn't even point at the road!)

Mount the bar on-top but the led bar/lights under the bar so it protects the lights and you can still use the bar as a roof rack.

My awning sits significantly higher than the roof bars and I have no problems with car parks.

It does overhang the windscreen and I can see how close it is to the upper limits before entering though.

some good points there, cheers.

had thought mount lights under or down so can still use bar for carrying, do have in mid shifting some full size house ladders.

also wondered if led really drive the light forward like traditional lamps
or is that down to lens and reflectors?

What would worry me about an LED lightbar and the cost of them is reliability and longevity. Had several LED bulbs start flickering or segments go completely dead. Have some great work lights from the infamous parts supplier that we get discount from but sadly LEDs are not going dead in those too.

I love my "good" light bar, I still smile every time I switch up to main beam, 2 and a half years on...

Only time It played up was when not enough voltage was getting to it, when a dodgy fuse burnt out the relay.

The great thing with them is, they have voltage control circuitry inside so even on low battery give out their best light.
