For the past few days I have noticed my engine seems to be noisier than usual and also the hoover sound the engine was making (the cooler i think) had stopped, then today i noticed a damp patch under the fuel tank on closer inspection it turned out to be diesel :doh, so i guess i have a number of questions.

1. How do i trace the leak?
2. Will the enigne being noisier be related to the leak?
3. Will this leak have stopped my truck sounding like a jet engine when i'm driving?

1. Pressure test it & check the drain plug under the tank hasnt loosened
2. No
3. No

I've had a good check around the tank and that seems all dry the leak seems to be coming from the rear springs area but not 100% could the fuel line need replacing? if so any ideas how much that would cost?

Have to get the old girl on a ramp with the engine running & have a look i guess mate :nenau

ok thanks m8y, i'll have to try and get my hands on a set of ramps, why is it the things that require you to lie under the car always happen when the weather is s**t lol

well after alot of hurting my neck looking into nooks and cranies it deffo looks like the fuel line has a hole of somekind in it, the diesel is all over my os rear coil sping and all over the os rear axel but nowhere around the fuel tank, so i'm going to replace the line with fuel grade flexi hose (I think), what are the pros and cons of flexi hose? will i be better using that than say copper? or is there another alternative? I dont want to replace it all just to get the same problems again a few months down the line, my t2 is my only car and at present need it alot getting to and back from birmingham childrens hospital, all advice greatly appreciated :thumb2 :D
