the lcd display(mileage/outside temp/clock on my 2001 2.7 terrano keeps becoming unreadable and sometimes nearly disappears.i have tried disconnecting the battery for 24 hours but still happens. is it easy to remove the dash to get at the lcd display. has anybody else had this problem

Recently had a blown 10amp fuse that meant the display kept on going blank with the ignition off, and resetting the trip back to zero. might be worth checking that. it is the one under the dash for the interior lights.

Taking the dash off is not to bad, just take it slowly a lot of hidden screws etc, Need to take the cowling off around the steering column (about 5 - 7 screws pending on model) some are hidden.
Then you can move onto the dash.

Ive got the same problem - LCD sometimes disapears, and occasionaly just reads gobble-di-gook!
I stripped my dash down and took out the display - at the back are 3 small `screw` type of lugs, tightened one of them up and it worked fine... for about a week... :x
Nissan say it is a common fault and requires a new speedo/rev etc unit fitting... but if you replace it they can't set it to the correct milage - so you will have all sort of troubles when it comes to selling the car on!

WORD OF WARNING!!! When you remove the panels to get to the speedo be VERY carefull around the electric mirror/headlight adjustment switch - this needs carefully removing before hand! I just pulled the panel away and hey presto - I now have a faulty dashboard, and non working mirrors!!!!!!

many thanks for all the comments and help, i had a bash at it the weekend but got halfway into and decided what if!!!!!, so stopped and decided to let nissan garage have a go when i get back from caravanning,

hi all,
have had same digital display probs, found removing dash quite easy only 2 concealed screws. Remove screws from lower panel, one on end near door with colour coded cap,1 screw either end bottom corners, and one on underside of light and mirror adjustment apature, left hand side of panel is on pushfit lugs and just pulls away only requires pulling away enough to access 2 screws securing bottom of dash cowling. remove 3 screws found in holes above speedo etc.the cowling can now be carefully lifted to access unplugging of switches in cowling. With cowling removed 4 screws secure display unit, tip display foreward unclip cables and unplug 2 electrical connections.
Unclip and remove cover on back of display to expose cicuit board.
I found on mine that there seemed to be play in the 2 lugs securing the odometer and a small pre drilled hole with no screw in it so carefully put in a small screw which stopped movement of lugs. Did not attempt to remove circuit board.
Touch wood 4 days now and display is fine.
Hope this is of help to someone p.s easier to do than explain.
