Ok, mine has a proper obd2 plug with all the proper obd2 pins so it would appear i can use this :

http://www.uprev.com/products.php#product_cipher

Anyone know anything about this software or used it before ?

the datalogging and diagnostics would be very usefull, but so would the ability to flash my ecu with a modded map

Don't think it will work as it might have a obd2 socket but it runs Nissan software. As for diesel's didn't have to have obd2 until after 2004 sorry to give the bad news.

According to the guy from ecutalk, he says:

ECUTalk will only work with 'consult 1' vehicles. Your vehicle i think is OBDII and/or Consult 2, so it wouldnt work.

If you can check the plug and what pins are present, and compare with this picture, it might help determine whether its consult 1 or consult2/obd2:

If it is consult1, i.e. has pin 12/13, and no pin 7 (ideally), then it wouldnt work with that cable anyway, only an ECUTalk one. But i suspect it may be OBDII/Consult2 (if it doesnt work with generic OBDII, may only work with specific consult2 software/cable like uprev cipher).

Peter

It has the full obd2 plug with correct pins ...

So, anyone have any ideas how i get a consult 2 thing or software/cable ?

Nissan started using the CAN-diagnostic protocol on most of their models released from 2001 onwards. for full diagnostic and ECU reprogramming features you will need to obtain an MTS 3200, Nissan Consult II or Consult III with the appropriate ROM-cards.

So basically I'M FOOKED :D

ffs

why only that, what makes it the one? I am intrigued.

Well, from 2001 until 2004 (as far as i have read) nissan came up with this can-bus that can only be read by this: http://www.bba-reman.com/docs/Nissan-Consult-II.pdf

These use the J-44200-CC CAN protocol and have a different plug so only the consult II will read it, or possibly that xtool ps701, but who wants to import one of them at £150 + and then get stung with import tax, possibly

so the one you linked first has J-44200-CC CAN, As I see no mention of it?

so whats the 1st one got that the other haven't?

Well, I'm posting stuff as I find it, kind of offering it up for critique, I'm not saying any will work, but the later one I think has the most chance of working
