K&n air filter question

Hi, want to get myself a K&N filter for the terrano but I've been on there website and it's only listing one up to 2002 and mine is a 2004. Does any one know if a 2002 will be the same as K&N can't even cross reference my aftermarket paper filter which is in the car now. The K&N filter part number for the 2002 is E-9251. Did nissan change the set up between 2002 and 2004 Thanks. John

I sold a genuine nissan one to a member here 2 weeks ago who was removing a k&n so you might get lucky though i wonder why you would want to fit one:nenau

well, mines an 03 and I fitted the K&N cylinder filter no problem (was listed as up to 02 for some reason)

Hi, I'm getting a bit of black smoke so was told to try a high flow filter as we all know black smoke is over fueling so if I can get some more air in it may help ???

Funny you should say that because going back a few months ago I did the ball bearing trick but I removed it the other day as im having a problem with boost as if I go up a hill in a gear which is a bit too high it goes into limp mode so I removed the ball bearing as was told that could be the problem but since doing that im getting black smoke but the truck does seem to be going a bit better but still got the problem with overboost ??

What were the fault codes ?
Could be the MAF

Had my mate to do a scan and it came up with boost pressure valve but I don't know what that is, also ive put a new maf on it already. Thanks john

Is yours a 3.0 jobbie ? If so then I think the maf is related to boost control indirectly.

Its a 2.7 on a 54 plate. Forgot to say that it only started giving me this problem since I got it remapped . Thanks

The K&N fliters are all the same for 1996-2006 2.7TDI's & I think the 3L uses the same air box & filter. Fitted one to mine as I had one in my last T2 & have gained around 2MPG:thumb2 IIRC I paid about £26 for mine off ebay & think i've still got the link for it. As far as I know K&N have stopped making them for the Terrano now

Ah well now you tell us :doh Well I'd be very pleased to see smoke after a remap, on boost anyway
Who did it for you ? Have you had a word ? Was it a power remap etc ? Details please :sly

Absolutely :naughty however going into limp mode is not a good thing
Did they also reset the turbo boost level ?
I'd certainly get hold of the remap guys and explain what's happening and ask them to re-remap and or check codes etc :thumbs

I lost his number so will get it tomorrow for you. He is based in Pontypridd and charged me £150 notes and did a economy remap which took it up by around 20% in bhp and torque. Now instead of going up hills in 2nd she goes up them in 4th. John If you like ring me John. Pm sent
