I've got my new spring bumpers arriving soon, I am doing front and rear, and I want as much elbow room as possible when I change them.

I want to jack truck up, axle stand the chassis so that the axle drops away from the chassis so I have more wiggle room. Where do you suggest I put axle stands on the chassis? I'll be doing front and rear, but not at the same time

:nenau

if you look on the chassis just in front of the rear wheels and just rear of the front wheels you will see 4 pips, these are the jacking points, Rick

Ok, but if I use them to jack up, where do I place the axle stands on the chassis to allow the axle to drop?

No you jack up under the rear diff and front cross member with a trolley jack, only one end at a time, then lower chassis onto axle stands at the points noted, if you do not have a trolley jack then please do not try and lift one end of the vehicle on a bottle jack it is in no way safe, you must only work on one wheel at a time with a bottle jack and axle stands, Rick

Lovely, thanks to all for input. That gives me all I need to know. I have got a trolley jack, but I will probably still put one side up at a time, better to be safe than sorry.

Uncle Rustic will be pleased to see all this talk of axle stands and safety:thumbs

Too right, you only have one life so survive it...
I have two ramps, four axle stands and two trolley jacks and even then I jack up and support on my concrete floor, then if I take a wheel off, that goes under the car too, with a thick timber across the rim as a last resort...

To be honest... with all these safety precautions, I do wonder...:doh
We were going on Holiday on Wednesday last week, then out of the blue we had a phone call at 6:30 pm on Tuesday night, from the doctor, my blood test on Monday showed greatly increased levels of PSA... so needed to see me next morning, so Holiday on hold... following another blood test, and a few faxes and phone calls, I now have an emergency appointment with the urologist on Wednesday.
I am sh*t scarred... For those that don't know, PSA levels are controlled by the prostate.
Chances are it won't be anything serious, but you always wonder.
Some of these issues have been going on for years, but the doctor's attitude is....let's see how it goes....

Well today, life carries on, the Mav is due for it's yearly wax, so maybe today or tomorrow.
I always thought the Mav would outlive me lol...
:lol:lol

Hey Uncle Rustic,
Thoughts are with you, as will be everyone's on this forum.

Stay strong........I am sure you will come shining through, and I think they have a good handle on this particular problem these days............:thumb2

Wax on, wax off.....wax on, wax off..........

Rustic very sorry to hear of your troubles a big let down on the holls as well, but health takes first priority, stay focused and beat it, not too sure about doctors either, but that is another story, all the best, Rick

Try not to panic Rustic, my grandfather had PSA levels that were WAY up, and I mean WAY up, was diagnosed with prostate cancer and we all thought the worst. But, remember this is the 21st century, not the dark ages, he has an injection every six months and no dramas, that was 5 years ago and he's still going strong. Hang in there bloke. it's a modern world.

Thank you all so very much for your kind words, regarding Doctors, we met one of my wifes former pupils that had graduated to become a GP, we asked how it went, and she said the pass rate threshold is 40% so it means they only know 40% and the remaining 60% of time they are just guessing.
My goodness, Terrano diagnosis issues are fixed better than this lol...

My impression of doctors is they go along with the 90% cure rule, people go in with certain conditions, in 90% of the cases the pill works... so end of.
It's the 10% they don't care about.

You have to be persistent, even getting my last appointment took 2 weeks, unless I phoned in a pot luck queue every morning at 8:00am along with 100's of others, then if a place is secured, then you wait over an hour in the waiting room.

Re the waxoyl... I did look at the tin, and there were no warnings of increased levels of PSA from using this product, lol

I expect the outcome on Wednesday following another urine test and "probe" will be where next, scans etc... maybe biopsy, so might be a few months before treatment starts. Early days as they say.
I wonder if my recent shoulder surgery has knocked my imune system about, they said it would take a while to recover, another side effect since that op, in March is what little hair I had was nearly white, now it's all white...
All white on the night lol... Coincidence I guess.

Sorry to hi"jack" this particular thread, but I find most men don't talk about this sort of thing with each other, but when you do, you find they too get up several times in the night, have urgency to go, plan long journeys with loos in mind, or avoiding drinking before journeys, not completely emptying your bladder and driibling etc.
We men accept this as a sign of getting old, it's simply a sign of an enlarged prostate, most are benign, some aren't an issue at first, doctors often take the approach of let's see how it goes... hmmmm. with occasional PSA blood tests, but doctors know these are un reliable, so tend to ignore high results... :doh
So guys, if you are having these issues, then a quick trip to the docs might be called for, the PSA test is a guide but opt for the physical examination... no big deal, takes 10 seconds, you are lying on your side.
Another health and safety post, brought to you by Rustic..
:lol:lol

I asked my doctor about the PSA test a few years back as I wasn't weeing as strong as I used to. He said he could send me for the test and it would probably come back high and then I would have to undergo lots of other tests, only to be told I was fine.
I was in my 40's at the time and as my doctor said 'you can't piss like a youngster all your life' :lol
Good luck with the tests and I'm sure you will be fine:thumb2

Don't sweat the hi-"jack" Rustic, info was gleaned many posts back!!

It's always good to talk about these things, knowledge is power and "blokes" aren't good at talking about these things.

Hang in there bloke, we're all rooting for ya!!!

I had so much bad advice from doctors way back, for both myself and the Mrs, I ignored them and have not seen a doctor in many years, the Mrs however is addicted to pills, I have worked alongside vets for many years and would rather take their advice, Rick
