Hi guys,

Im looking to buy a K&N Induction kit for my R reg T2 2.7 LWB.

I have seen this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/K-N-57i-Induc...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item439fbe9474

Is this the right kinda price for an induction kit and will it fit in the Terrano without issue?

Also theres plenty on their description about increased power etc but nothing about fuel economy, will this increase or decrease the economy of the car?

And lastly, would it be easy to fit? I plan on doing this myself and am not mechanically minded.

Thanks
Gav

Its defo the right one and the price is fine.

Fuel economy should improve by 2-3 mpg...it has for everyone else thats fitted one.

Don't expect a startling performance improvement....I'd say 'detectable' is more like it :augie ....but since the fuel economy covers its cost within a few tankfuls its a very worthwhile modification.

Fitting is simple, just follow the excellent instructions that come with it. Just need to remove the existing airbox and plumbing, then fit the filter to the air inlet and a bracket supplied.

Don't go mad with the oiling kit - although TBH you'd need to drown it before any got through to the MAF.

Thats not for an inter-cooled model with maf sensor :nenau

I'm guessing it will be ok if it offers up against the maf ok :thumbs

Should I be worried? "Thats not for an inter-cooled model with maf sensor "

Mine is an Intercooled model...

Will this still fit and work or have I ordered the wrong one :(

Find out when it turns up :lol

I'm guessing you should be able to make it fit easy enough :thumbs

No you shouldn't, its exactly the right part.:thumb2

Same as the one I fitted but mounted mine inside the old airbox as the car overheats when towing when just fitted in the engine bay . I fitted the adaptor by drilling 4 holes in the old airbox and added an extra air intake though the wing using the existing hole.

Then you have a cooling problem, nothing whatsoever to do with the air filter:nenau

Everything to do with the filter. Only when going up hills the K&N sucks in hot air from the engine bay causing the car to struggle meaning more revs needed making it hotter so more hot air for the K&N.

Never had probs before K&N fitted and not had probs since it went in the box. And I do a lot of towing.

I also tow a lot; heavyweight twin-axle box trailer and a twin-axle flatbed. Both been towed very heavily loaded including 2000-mile round trips to south of France in 35C+ and never had a problem using 57i on three different trucks.

I am sure your empirical experience has some relevance but if you think for one minute that a bit of extra warm air sucked via an air filter is going to cause your engine to overheat then I'd suggest you re-evaluate. All that would do (if it were true, the ram air effect actually negates it most of the time) would be to reduce engine efficiency a tad, but that doesn't happen either in my experience. There are quite a few people on here with 57i and I've never heard anyone complain about oveheating before.....I'd suggest you have other issues under there somewhere.
