Who do people use for insurance and what sort of money are you paying.

Mines with Directline and they're wanting £403.00 for me and the wife fully loaded and not forgetting my 3 points. It doesn't do as many miles so just waiting to see if they'll drop the premium.

I was just about to start a new thread on insurance, I hope you don't mind me adding to your query Jim.
My daughter has a car and she is going to stop the insurance soon.
Can I drive the car on my Maverick insurance 3rd party, OR does the car have to be insured in it's own right before I can drive it legally.
Clearly if seen by the police it would come up as having no insurance and the inevitable STOP.. but can I drive it legally?

My insurance is 480 fully comp, legal cover ad wind screen, but no road side recovery. but it does include my k&N.

Ref Rustic's question.

my policy is fully comp, and a little line on the bottom of the isurance certificate says

"may drive any private vehicle with the owners permission (not including hire or lease vehicles)

The old myth of fully comp meaning u can drive any car at 3rd party is a load of pants.

It all depends on the driver and insurance policy.

hope it helps.

if your policy covers you then yes , but they usually require it to be insured by the owner too. and you cant be the owner of said vehicle

if you are fully comp you cannot drive another vehicle unless it is insured by the owner, it should state may drive any motor car with permission of owner, but in you schedule it will say it must be insured. only traders policy will cover any car

my wifes policy with me on as spouse, full comp, protected, windscreen and courtesy car cost £190.00.

I am insured with sureterm direct
1996 (N) 2.7td Mistral Inevitably loaded, the excuse being, it is an import with all the extra shiny stuff, but that is about £300 fully comp for me
(42 yo) and mrs p.(45 yo)
(dearer than my 3.9 disco????? £280:nenau)
Frontera 2.4i LWB £220

sureterm direct is on 08452020230] The people on the phones, obviously work on phones for a reason, especially renewals but they are the cheapest and most comprehensive with reasonable xs so be patient.:thumb2:thumb2

But don't change vehicle or modify it mid term with sureterm - they may be cheap to start with but they get it back if you change the policy mid term - cost a fortune to change vehicle last year over half of it was broking fees as the paperwork itemised it when it came through.

I went to NFU when it ended - paid £150 less, for unlimited milage and business cover where with sureterm I had 5000 mile SDP only policy.

JT Try Chris Knott Ins,cheaper than my last broker and covers everything.

i forgot to mention my insurance company,--saga for t2 and cabby, cant remember the other company.:doh

I won't go to Saga on principle. My missus rips the piss out of me :doh

And re the other points; yes you can drive other vehicles third party cover only, but only if (i) it says so on your certificate (lots of insurers no longer allow it), and (ii) the other vehicle is insured by the owner. :thumbs

i would'nt like to go to court with a date and time, they will proberly lose or wipe the tape, and the only way you can drive a uninsured vehicle is if you have motor traders policy, risky if you ask me jimmy.:augie
