So sent my instrument cluster to ac Tronics to be tested as I couldn’t find a problem my self they have called and said all is ok with the instruments everything is working fine, any ideas people ?? Stuck

Plugs on back of clocks seemed ok to me

Its got me thinking though, maybe where the wires go in/attach to the plug come loose or degrade? My speedo and rev counter only start sticking when I have had my lights in for a few minutes so I thought maybe the heat of the bulbs behind the clocks was causing it, I think I will be checking the plugs now. I wonder if the info for the clocks go through the ecu first?, I may check the plugs are ok on that too!!

i know mine is not a terrano but a nissan serena 4x4 import i had problem with having no illumination on the speedometer if i took the clocks out and checked them they would work but the next time i would go out at night it had stopped working but after having the heater on for a while they would come back on in the end it turned out to be dry solder joints that when the heater in the car got warm it would work i resoldered the connections also the solder around the bulb holder and all is fine it could be that if they tested it in a warm place it checked out ? all the problems that occur with theses old dashes seems to be connection due to dry solder joints mine looked clean and i was sure was not the problem but still played up until i resoldered them it may be worth checking again took me a while and a lot of messing about taking the dash in and out but got there in the end and did not cost me anything but time :nenau

Think once the the clocks come back Monday I will have to trace back all the wires someone mentioned loosing the Earth feed to the dash but not looking in to that to much doesn’t seem right but anything is possible I can’t find a proper wiring diagram on auto data either to see how and where all the wires go to and from behind the dash and in to Ecu so going in blind in a sense

So got clocks back in and in my haste over looked a single fuse the meter fuse new fuse in all dash working perfect and discovered it pops once you put it in to reverse so am guessing wiring to the reverse light sensor is rubbing out or broke down in side

You got any pics of that mate?

Have you got a towbar sockets? I’ve seen them fill with water or get crushed and blow fuses on different lighting circuits.

Fuse it self is in the little compartment to the right and below the steering wheel and I will take a few pics after work tomorrow once get it back on the ramp and no tow bar fitted mate

How long have you had the truck? Is it possible that it had one? A previously owner or garage removed towbar perhaps and left the wiring in a bad way?

It’s just a thought.

Had it about 3 weeks and no signs of one being fitted as far as I can tell and can’t see any wiring that would go to it unplugged reverse light switch and it stopped blowing fuses

How did you identify the switch? there are several on a T2, Rick

There is a single switch on the drivers side of the gearbox housing the rest I seen where all located on they transferbox assuming these are switches to illuminate the 4wheel drive indicator on the dash board ect

Are you sure it is the reversing light switch? there is also a Neutral switch, it seems strange that the Rev switch is controlled by the cluster fuse, whereas the neutral switch is picked up on Consult so would make more sense for that to be on the fuse, Rick

Would do but for it to be perfectly fine working until you put it in to reverse seems a bit odd

Well it works perfect drives fine go through all the gears and nothing until you engage revers and it instantly pops

On closer inspection online of the metering fuse there are cases on Navaras and pathfinders the same reverse light switch caused it to pop

Sorry there is a couple of similar reply’s to that mate forum went a bit weird on me today didn’t think it loaded as couldn’t get on the page wouldn’t load
