Ok, so got mil light on, 38 I think, Injector fault

So was voting to try cleaning first,

Can I mix fuel and cleaner into new fuel filter and run the engine to see if that helps?

When ive used cleaners, ive used forte and always to about 1/4 of a tank, dont know whether it might be a bit strong direct into the filter but could be wrong.

do an italian tune up.old fashioned non synthetic brake fluid i think, google it,feed it into ip at 2000 revs will really clean the injectors.

Believe it or not the halfords own brand diesel injector cleaner is good, cleaned my system out, just whack the whole bottle in and be done with it :thumb2

I have to jump in and say injector cleaner is a waste of money, unless you run funny fuel, as the only thing that normally effects injectors is carbon build up, and NOTHING DISSOLVES CARBON, but if running odd fuel then you may get gum deposits which cleaner could dissolve, pure simple fact, Rick

A while back my 3.0 suddenly started running like a bag of spanners, smoking like a pig etc, mate at the garage checked and said it looks like injectors and to try a cleaner as it may work. I pored Tesco's own into the tank and a went for a spin, it cleared and has been fine since. I only use diesel, I did start to use 2T oil mixed with it, but have stopped that now.
Don't know if it was the cleaner, but something cleaned/cleared something, I put it down to the cleaner.

When I change my fuel filter I pour a bottle of injector cleaner into the new one, then top it up with an eggcupful of diesel. Seems the best way to get the cleaner straight to the injectors - don't know if it does any good, but on reading Rick's comments probably not, but on the other hand it won't do any harm either!

Please correct me if I am wrong, (I often do not pay much attention to such things) but are we all not now running on a mix of derv and bio, if so then the injector cleaner makers will do very nicely out of it, Rick

You are correct Rick & they have been doing it for a few years luckily the UK has a lower % of bio in it's fuel compared to the rest of Europe. The fuel companies don't like to brag about the bio bit:lol
