Injection pump swap

Hi guys.
here's another bunch of questions!
i've searched a bit in the forum but i didn't find a lot of answers..

for sure you know a lot of people suggest to swap the original electronic fuel injection pump from 2.7 TDi for the mechanical pump from 2.7 TD, to gain reliability and a bit of power.

I'm thinking about it, just for reliability reasons. I know i'd need the gas pedal and cable from 2.7 TD.

what's your point of view about it?
are there any other mechanical FI pump that could fit this engine? the one from 2.7 td is almost impossible to find (at the moment i found only one, for 100€.. not a lot of money it seems)
is it an easy installation?

I know "Makeitfit" has done this mod on The Black Pearl and also think "MadMark" did it on his Silver 2004 LWB.

Mark is no longer a member here but Pete (Makeitfit) logs in most days, he'll be your man to ask for hand on experience.

I'll be watching this thread with anticipation as I'll be dropping a QD32 bottom end into my Patrol hopefully with the head from a TD27, also using a TD27TI Exhaust Manifold and turbo with a TD27 mechanical pump :naughty

Yes I've fitted the manual pump. Loads if details on a Black Pearl engine mods thread someplace.
Since then I've fitted the 11mm head off the electronic pump to the manual pump.
This really does wake up the old girl. Change the timing and up the fuel , drop the star wheel and add some boost. Jobs a goodun
