Inj pump help.

I have a suspected mechanical pump issue. I'm wondering about putting on the old EDC pump. Now this will be without any ECU control , so should it still work but without boost control for example ?
Obviously it will have stop solenoid wired .

Oops, electronic diesel control. As in the ecu controlled type in post 96 terrano.

Mmmmm without an ECU think it will only work in limp mode, if at all as the Nats might be in there some place, Rick

Further to a top secret chat with the font of all knowledge Rick has helped no end with my issues.
Here's a pic of the return solenoid on the pump. In there I can see a gauze. Do you reckon a quick oik out with a bit of bent wire or somesuch ?
I have virtually no return flow .
