Indicator & Rear tail light

Hi help please been to halfords today for new indicator bulb back pass side and rear tail light drivers side. They took both bulbs out either blown put new ones in still want work checked fuses for me all ok said it must be wiring
So anyone know a of cheap auto electrician in Sheffield or anyone know how to fix .

Could just be corroded connections take the bulbs out and give all the terminals a good clean and spray with WD40

The fact that they are on different sides and its not both tail lights or both indicators ,suggests to me it's a problem with the holders not wiring fault.

Poor connections ?

If the bulbs were silvery looking with a dark mirror coating on the inside of the glass that is classic poor earth or bulb connectors corroded.

I would start by checking the wiring block with a simple test bulb lamp / screwdriver/ or volt meter if you have one.

If there is power to the connector you know the problem is in the bulb holder or the earth return.

I purchased some bulb holders from e-bay (£1.50) when my Mums headlamp connector failed. I had been replacing the o/s/ headlamp bulb every year when the dip beam kept failing. New connector and bulb still OK after 4 years !

My rear nearside side light started flickering while I was in Wales over Christmas, and it took it out and checked the connections, they were nice and clean. A week or so later, it stopped working... I spend a good hour fault finding it, and in the end found that there is a 4 pin connector about 6 inches back along the loom from the rear light, and the wire on the light side had corroded in the connector, and as you moved it, would turn the light on and off.

When I took the connector out, I found that it was almost completely corroded away, having a green and grey dust where the pins should have been.

I replaced the connector with 4 x 1/4inch spades and wrapped in self amalgamating tape.

Problem solved.
