I don't want to sound like a "Max Powerrrrr!!!!" reader but I would like to consider imporving my sounds.

I am completely ignorant about amps, crossovers, speakers etc etc.

Can anyone advise a simple (and not too expensive) way to upgrade.

I currently have the standard speakers with a "cheapo" Ripspeed in-dash DVD player. 8)

Cheers

Neil's (Sweety) your man, been & seen in his truck & liked what he as in her..

Power Amp

It's no mystery really. What you need is a good power amp. Go for a known make as it's well worth it. A lot also depends on how much you want to take the car apart?
SPEAKERS SPEAKERS SPEAKERS.
Spend money here, the biggest RMS handling ones you can afford/fit.
I'm not familiar with your truck but you can get really good replacement ones to fit the existing holes. Though if your brave enough to cut things about you can get better ones in.
Buy new speakers, but power amps are a pleanty on ebay.
A good place to fit the amp is up behind the glove box area, usually room up there behind the dash.
Existing head unit should be ok to start with though.
If in doubt go as big as you can. It means things are working well within capacity.
Proper job get some 'kin huge subs under the seats...mm throbin.... 8O

Hi floyd500b I would be more than happy to help you if I can  Alot depends on what you want from your system, You say you have a Ripspeed in dash DVD player well thats prob a good start do you know how many RCA out puts it has (Phono's) you will need these for an amp if you wish to fit one but you can get around this anyway if you don't have RCA's. TBH I like JBL speaker as i've got them but have used them when I was a DJ in clubs & in Radio stations i've worked in plus other makes. Then you have the big world of sub woofers  I run a 10" for a tighter bass sound & a 12" for rubble but a vented box can give you alot of rubble from a 8" sub. Crossovers control the frequany going to the speakers ie hi frequanies to tweeter & low frequanies to subs.
Now you will have prob fallen asleep  let me know what you want & i'll try my best to help you

Thanks for your help Sweety.

I'm really looking just to get some better quality (and louder obviously) music in my truck, I spend 2-3 hours a day in it and I love my music.

The head unit has more ins and outs than you could poke a stick at, but it does have 2 pairs of RCA line outs (front LO / Rear LO) and a sub woofer out. It also has in / out for video, Aux, parking sensors etc.

The speaker sas I say are standard and being a double cab pick-up there ain't a huge amount of room for extra `things`so I would be looking to replace the exisitng units with a matched physical size.

So what do I need to do now? I've had a wander around Halfords but it's into Max Power territory again and I am reluctant to ask the assistance of one of the buffoons that works in the one near to me without a bit of prior knowledge.

I would appreciate any direction you can point me in - sorry I'm all new to this. :? :?
Cheers

Graham

I think the 1st step would be to replace your door speakers with some better items as i've killed the voice coils on my standard speakers with a few days after changing the head unit  & see how you feel about the sound before heading down the amp route. If you can give me a week i'll try & find out what size the speakers are in a Navara then give you some options. If you have a propper car audio shop (not halfords) I would pop in & get there view aswell before you go spending your money
