Well guy's my beloved is back in the country (and the wife  ) she arrived back from her holiday yesterday, and was delivered straight to the garage :( been to today to see what the mechanic today to see what he had to say  Oh poop :!: not good news in fact really bad and sad news she needs a new engine   it would appear that she really has a very badly cracked head  . Only because of the cost involved I am going down the line of engine replacement. yes we even tried that K-seal but it didn't work and started to burn it's own engine oil and rev the nuts off her self 8O .

Lucky in one respect that at work we are getting loadsa overtime so I guess I won't be on the site very often :( for the next couple of weeks :(.

But fear not the Duck will return -mex-

I guess other members don't know how to reply to you on this one, I'm sorry to here about the damage to your beloved car, :( I know we have all grown to love our Mav's and Terrano's
I am pleased that you are going down the route of repair, I guess there are a few years left in the old girl yet.
I was impressed with Red flag recovery though, worth getting cover for these overseas trips.
If I could send her a get well soon card I would.

As my Father-in-law would say.... it's only a piece of metal in the end.
But then.... he hasn't got a 4x4
Hope you're both back on the road together soon.
Best wishes Rustic

Sorry to hear that the old girl has sadly expired, but she had a good life, and if you believe in reincarnation, she will come back to life !!
Here's hoping that she lives again, and has a long and interesting future.
Best wishes ........ Matt.

THE DUCK WILL be BACK very very soon

Well done Duck, things should turn out well in the end.

Out of interest how many miles did the old engine have on it?

Unfortunatley as I bought the car in Spain, at what we thought was a good garage but have since found out that they CLOCK ALL the cars (we had a friend that worked there after we had bought ours) that if a car came to them with about 120,000 kms that car would be clocked back to about 20,000km  I can only really give a very rough guess....... I bought it it showed 32,000km i ran on that clock till about 110km then sold the clock to wolf in Ireland, bought a mph clock ran it for about 6mths da dee daa dee daa deedaa so we only very very roughly estimate say around 450,000 kms

But with the new lump she lives on  -mex- going to keep her a little bit longer and now going to give her loadsa love and attention just like the wife  1st project get some new seats or get the old one recovered then eeeeeeerrrrrrmmmmmm ahhh yes add some more fancy lights in the grill like KIT (knightrider)

Nice to hear from you MR Toolbox been a long time ??? where you :? been :?:

New trim :? if the centres are ok you could do a half leather retrim on your seats, you just need someone who can work a sewing machine as you use the outer parts as a template  I will be doing this when mine wear out

Its done a fair bit by your estimate then Duck, not bad.

Only been away for a few days, did you miss me LOL
Had a bit of a Holiday, we bought a 17-year-old caravan from one of the wife’s work colleagues, cheap; it has been looked after like a baby. Any way thought we would give this caravanning thing a go and I must say I think we will be doing a lot more, if I can get the time off that is.
We only went as far as Devon, but it was great and we did a fair bit of walking/site seeing around Dartmoor.

hi duck.
the differances are.
2.7 t/d is the old motor
2.7 t/d/i/.is the newer updated engine fitted to the later models.
the horse power has been raised by use of an INTERCOOLER. hence the (i) designation.
also fitted is an electronic engine management system.
