So guys been away

Now decided to fit out the back a little more.

Need to store table and 4 chairs plus stove gas and picnic basket.

Its lwb, will be taking out back row of seats.

So come one tips and ideas welcome...

Hi,

Something like this, with backs to the compartments you access from the rear door to stop things sliding too far back. Then lids over compartments for things further back in the vehicle.

My 2001 Pathfinder (R50 ) mild_budget build - Page 3 - Expedition ___.jpg

Mine will have centre fixed. And 3 lift up sections.

Still in planing stages at moment

Sounds like a good set up. I have thought about doing this myself but need my seats.
I have had a few ideas over the years that would work for me. Here are a few.

1- Cut 'lift out lids' instead of using hinges so I can access storage from either side of the truck.
2- If using hinges then raid scrapyard for boot door gas struts to stop that balancing lid on my head moment.
3- Try and make it in sections so I can remove easier.
4- Incorporate a small hidden floor safe/compartment for valuable's
5- Add some recessed lift up anchor points to lash a cargo net too or any other boot contents. Without rear seats or bulkhead there would be alot unrestricted space for things to fly around in a accident.

Nice, no hinged as they will pull out in time

Will not be fixed is as I too need to have back seats some times.

Anchor points, That's a good idea

There should be plenty of food for thought in this thread.
http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/9034-Post-up-your-drawer-storage-system, there's also a Spanish guy on flickr who has hundreds of images of different storage systems (hopefully someone will be able to link to him).
My system wouldn't be suitable except for the tie down which simply uses a couple of screws that fit in the third row retainer and connectors to the hooks at the back. I would look at raising the base so that the table could live underneath without having to lose a flat storage area as you won't want to install/remove the unit too frequently. Again, something that is cut at the angle of the rear seats will add a bit of stability and prevent the unit moving too much.
Don't forget to post pictures. :)
