Hi All

When I went down that dirt track last week I hadnt realised that a branch must have gone right down the side of my car, after washing this morning the scratch is still there.

Its only a surface scratch, nothing deep but is very noticeable.

I would like to know what the best product is to rub on and make the scratch disappear lol

My first thought was T-CUT but then I remembered when I had a scratch repaired by someone a while ago in a garage (not with this car) they used a product from 3M that was see through and just kinda made the scratch vanish. Cant remember what the full product name is.

What do you guys use as I assume scratches are a regular occurrence :doh

I have used T-Cut for metalic paint, it's not as abrasive as standard T-cut.

I have also used Turtlewax colour, a wax you buy that's colour coded, eg silver for most silver paints etc.
The above get rid of those circular swirls you get.

There are coloured wax pens, that I have found are useless.

Don't use an electric polisher, one bit of grit and you will damage the paint finish.

There is also a pen you can buy, you use it like a felt tip pen and it has a thin lacquer in it. Mixed results on this, I guess it depends how steady your hand is.

I too, also await other members ideas on this.

As always, try one small area at a time.

Mine's a bit like a stainless steel sink, it's covered with them:D

i use " colour magic " it gets all but the worse scratches out

the trick is...... not to wash it then they wont be seen..

works for me

Dent the door with your foot or tree, That will make the scratches less obvious. Works for me.

auto glym due a product called paint renovator its like t cut but not as harsh that usually sorts out any marks on mine, but u have to polish it after!:clap

farecla g3, Its what most body shops use, I no I work in one. You may want to finish off with something finer like normal T cut.
For those of you with caravans T cut is what I use to clean my windows on mine after washing, it gets all but deep scratches out and shines up ace.

Been racking my memory trying to remember why tcut is no good for plastics.

Im pretty certain theres an alarm bell going near the drawer marked "its because its got petrochemical products in it which deteriorate plastics"

beyond that I really cant remember

:doh:doh:doh

To repair or not to repair a vexing question ?

You could spend a fortune getting it repaired safe in the knowledge that soon afterwards some idiot will damage your car making the repair pointless.

Or you can live with it and no one will damage a damaged motor and everytime you get in your motor all you will see is the scratch..

Simples.
