Soooo... anyone know where I can buy bits for the R3M WD21 Terrano?

I need the gas struts for both the glass and the rear door.
Spare wheel and carrier
jack
Drivers door Central locking actuator
Towbar

Plus other bits no doubt...

cant help you there, although I have a to ball,,,

as for the gas struts, I bet you can get the same but from another make of car, such as a Micra or almera etc, whatever NIssans were about when this model was new!

Gas struts have to have the correct pressure rating relative to the weight of the door/window, should be printed on them somewhere, too low and the door will not stay up, too high and you won't be able to close it, so ones from other models probably won't be suitable.

worth checking though!! for example, my old Mazda MX3, had a HUGE boot lid-it was pretty much the entire rear of the car. you know what gas struts that used? the same as on a Peugeot 205

micra may be possible as i got my wiper arm from one :thumb2

as Mel said

Nissan are very lazy with parts, nearly all models of a certain year e.g. 90s or 00s will ave the same parts somewhere, hve got bits on my Terrano from a micra, Almera & Vanette

Many years ago I fitted a spoiler to the boot lid of my Sierra Sapphire and the lid wouldn't stay open, a sod when it came to putting in the supermarket shopping in the pouring rain - that spoiler only weighed a kilo or so but it cost me a pair of uprated gas struts from a Sapphire Cosworth!

ffs:lol:lol:lol:eek: i bet you can use the boot lid of a 205 as a catapult!:naughty

just use a bonnet stay from a scrapper ...... cheap simple fix :augie:lol

The Gas struts have no part numbers that I can find on them, went right over them today. They do have the warning stickers on, mainly in Japanese, but there is also an English translation on them, about not dismantling, and how they get hot in use:doh

I did wonder about finding some on something else, but from looking into it today, you can have identical looking ones, just with different gas pressure, if money was no object, there is even a company that supply ones that are fully gassed, and have a valve, so you can let the pressure out to suit the application.

I have sent a request off to a company in Kent that make struts, but from looking at their list of parts, I am looking at about £70 per pair.. Ouch

im guessing you've tried milners ?

I have heard them mentioned a lot, but not really sure what/who they are. I kind of got the impression they were on on-line motor factor, but would welcome a link if they are something different.

The pressure is measured in newtons e.g. 30n or 55n, the n stands for newtons and the higher the number the higher the pressure.

How did you get it home in the end?

Took out the one day insurance with insure4aday.co.uk for just under £26.

We were away in the caravan for the long weekend but as it was the first outing of the year, we were only about 50 miles from home, which also by chance was loosely speaking in the rough direction of where the car was, so we went over on the Friday, and brought it back home.

This new one is for my wife, but for getting it home, we insured me on the R3M, and as she is already insured to drive mine, so she drove that back, and I had a play in the new one.

Drives very smoothly, not as quiet as the T2, but nice. Like all cars, it needs things doing, that the owners don't bother with, like some of the dash lights are out, and the drivers door switch was not working, so the alarm went off if you did not also open a back door as well, just to let the alarm know someone had got in. Most are silly things, but there are a few to go through.

Fixed the door switch today, and removed the really bad and broken spot lights. Started a list of jobs I need to do, and will go through them one at a time... I think I may need to find someone who can weld though, as there are a few dodgy rust spots, that would be nice to get sorted.

Nice one keep us updated with pics glad it worked out ok in the end
Cheers andy

Does anyone know if the central door locking actuators on the T2 are all the same, e.g., will a drives door one fit the passenger door, etc.
