Well last weekend finally sorted oil leak that has been messing up my block paved driveway.

Had one of the Techies at work remove the incredibly small sump pan and re-fit using Mercedes-Benz liquid gasket glue as the Hyundai liquid gasket had failed.
Was going to do it myself but the front exhaust was in the way and its cold on the floor of my garage !

Just one last front suspension noise to fix - finally traced to badly worn / perished /oil deteriorated front ARB rubbers.

Genuine Hyundai Parts ordered and should arrive soon modified front clamp design all the lot including new bolts just under £25.00 including postage from UK supplier. Same Techie doing the job as the bolts are cunningly impossible to remove without partially lowering part of the front subframe.

be good when its sorted, how are you finding the Hyundai?

Very pleased with what we got for the money in terms of overall condition and specification it has leather interior (I am not a big fan of leather but it looks good!) electric sun roof, cruise control, aircon, tow bar, good bodywork and everything fitted works as it should . It had just turned 80k when we bought her its now done almost 84k. Done a lot to her in terms of general maintenance though as second owner did not do some essential stuff like the timing belt change and it had 5 different makes of tyre on her!

We paid £1800 for the motor a V6 Petrol Automatic (a must) 2004 reg (2 owners) and got £500 for the r3mR that was starting to rot so had to find £1300 to change.
As it was relatively cheap we had plenty left over in our budget to put some decent tyres on her and bring the maintenance up to date.

The wife prefered the r3mR for its higher stance and greater rear space but accepted it was not worth spending money on a 1995 vehicle.
We really wanted a Terracan or Pathfinder but could not find one in our budget with sensible mileage.
We went to the other extreme and looked at a few Grand Cherokee 3.0CRD's but Missus did not want to put £8k into what is effectively a third car.

We like the ultra quiet petrol V6 Auto and its better on juice than the r3mR especially on a run 28-30 mpg. On short journey work its the same mpg as the old Nissan 20-22 mpg but petrol is cheaper than diesel so its OK for us.

It drives more like a car than a 4 x 4 so its easy to enter roundabouts with a tad too much pace than one should. Brakes are excellent, there are lots of spares by the likes of Blueprint available as well as discounted genuine Hyundai parts online.
It's been to France twice now without any issues so confidence is being built up in terms of reliability etc. Its a sobering thought that we will spend more on fuel in 12 months than she cost to buy ! That said the depreciation compared with buying newer more than makes up for the cost of fuel.

We tend to use the Hyundai as our wheels of choice at weekends as we can park it without worrying about parking dents etc and its much easier to park than the 300C ! Hope we get some snow to see what she is like on the white stuff. Do not tow or off road except when parking a muddy fishing venues !

Finally - no we do not love her like we did the r3mR and probably never will - its more like an arranged marriage than a soul mate.

Hyundai ARB bushes Update

Well finally had a few spare quid to sort out the ARB bushes and clamps.
Parts were £20 including the later clamps to keep the rubbers in place.

Mate at work fitted parts and it was a right Alan Bas***d of a job.
Motor is now totally silent suspension wise and body roll has more than halved when cornering!

At last its fully sorted just one more hoop the MoT in March !

This might be my last post as sub is due soon and no longer a Nissan owner so not sure if I am staying !!

So long and thanks for all the fish !!! 42 etc etc
