I have to re-index the torsion bars on my T2, as turning the adjuster bolts does not get me where I want to be.
But, whatever I did, they wouldn't move yesterday. I made sure the lip thing at the end cleared the crossbar, and used plenty of penetrating oil the days before.

Any tips?

On my 1999 T2, the torsion bar adjustor, is the bit that comes off the splines, not the suspension end which is mentioned in the down load.

I put mine up on axle stands, wound the adjustor right back and out, took the circlip off (Pig of a job!), lifted the front arm just enough to take the load off the bars, then held the bar central in the hole using the same hand to hold a flat punch against the shoulder of the adjustor, and a couple of taps with the hammer knocked it off. It takes no effort, or hard knocking, just a small jarring.

My only issue was both times I did it, I followed the download, and had marked the front suspension end, not the adjustor end, so had to take a guess about how much I had moved it.

On my 97, the adjuster seems to be welded to the torsion bar. At the front end, it looks exactly like the download. I'll check tonight to be sure.

I have had near impossible adjusters to remove from the torsion bar, loads of heat and whacking finally gets them, but not easy if the wish bone end wants to come out first, if you have marked both ends then you may be able to re index but cannot remember if with the adjuster on you can clear the wishbone enough, the tight ones I have had are with a broken torsion bar so bar in vice and hammer off adjuster, Rick
