GEARBOX REAR LEVEL PLUG

HI LEO
LEVEL PLUG IS ON N/S 1/2" DRIVE
UNDUE IT IF OIL COMES OUT ...OK
IF NOT TOP IT UP.
THERE IS A TRAIL OF THOUGHT TO PUT A LITTLE EXTRA IN TO KEEP A BEARING AT TOP OF GEARBOX LUBED.

I jacked the nearside up a few inches to get more in and replaced with new oil and added Molyslip to reduce the whiine when slowing down at junctions. Really helped.

I ran the offside up on one ramp and opened the said plug the cheated  I got a peice of garden hose fed it down to the plug using No1 son to get under the car and put pipe in the put a funnel in the otherend  easy and I didn't get the dirty -dance- -mex- -welldone- and then the molyslip works a real treat.

ive found the square on the back of the gearbox or it could be the transfer box is this the right thing to CHECK the oil and where is the drain plug im after the gearbox oil not the transfer unless they are the same thing

also on the drivers side theres a big rubber thing near the top of the gearbox and a bolt underneath but mine hasnt got the bolt in its just a threaded hole is this ok

Leo23,

The plug in the rear is to check / fill the transfer box oil, the gearbox should have an identical plug in the passenger side further forward in the thinner part of the gearbox above the front prop, the later gearbox is on the driver side, but yours should be on the passenger side unless the box has been changed.
The drain plug for the gearbox is in the bottom of the casing, again the same type plug with a ½” square in it
Likewise the transfer box drain plug is in the bottom of the transfer box at the rear. (They are separate oils)

think ive found them!!!under the big plastic cover towards the front right????????????????????
