How do you remove old cement splatter from tiles?

Just had a new Bath & Shower fitted, as the new bath is a low threshold one it's 4" lower. As I have not re-tiled the bathroom there are some old cement splatter dots now showing on the glazed white wall tiles that were previously below the bath line.

A scraper just runs over the top of the well stick on grains of cement / and or cement coated sand.

What's the best thing to remove the old cement splatter with?

A builder cleaned cement off my block paving with an acid solution.

Rick might be your man on this one though.

brick acid may do it most builders merchants sell it

I'd give the bathroom fitters a call to see what they'd use, then tell them to get there 'arrises back to clean up like what they should have done in the first place. :sly

If the tiles are glazed and it sounds like they are, then forget builders brick cleaner as it is just weak hydrocloric acid at an inflated price, just pop into a decent household store and get some "spirits of salts" but make sure the room is well ventilated, Rick

OH just realized it is over the bath, you need to secure some plastic sheet over the bath or it may stain it, Rick

They are due to come back when we have had the new carpet to seal round the bath panel, worth a shot !

White Vinegar Spray did it after overnight soaking!!

I tried some neat "Everbuild Cemstrip Cement Stain Remover" but it had no effect on the cement splatter despite treating the affected wall tiles over a couple of days being careful to not get any on the bath or taps with the use of masking tape etc. I was getting a bit despondent by now with some chivying remarks from her indoors about my lack of success.

Whilst tidying up the shelves in the garage I came across some household "White Vinegar Spray Cleaner for windows etc. It's been on the shelf for about a year so decide to spray some on the affected bathroom tiles to see if it did anything. Nothing happened instantly so left it until morning.

Being the consistency of water it had run off the tiles but there seemed to be fewer cement spots and some were more like brown stains but I thought it was perhaps a mirage.

So I sprayed some onto a sponge until it was quite soaked and placed the sponge against the worst affected areas behind the taps and this evening they were all gone!
