So I found a winch on fleabay. There are 5 left. Seems very cheap, affordable for me at the moment.

Im never going to be pulling myself out of slindon style mid like rick was but I want it to work still :lol

my opinion fwiw .... is go with rick to slindon ( in his truck ) and learn how to use one correctly first , they can be dangerous things .

Very wise words from Briggie, Alex.........heed them........winches can be very dangerous......

That said it does appear a broody good deal :sly
I guess it's the old skool solenoid and not waterproof. So mount it high up in the engine bay and use longer cables.
Steel wire use with caution. That is using a winch blanket on it and get yourself a good pair of gloves .
I might get one for the back of mine actually, good find mate :clap

When you get it, strip the gearbox end off and check it's well greased. Then grease the casing and refit.
Coat the cable terminals in a cable friendly grease too :thumbs

Looks very similar to the one I had (probably made by the same company/factory in china), Used to dunk the solenoid many a time and still worked a dream.

For the price they work well

That's good advice from briggie and makeitfit as steel cable can be deadly in a winching situation, but whatever you do bud, stop faffing about and just get a winch bought and fitted so that your bumper is legal :doh

I know you were keen to get the bumper fitted asap but the time to be dithering over what winch to buy was BEFORE you mounted the bumper on your truck as it should really have been fitted to the bumper at the same time as the bumper itself was fitted to the truck. It's not as if there's even a mounting plate in place so that you can just claim the winch is away getting repaired :doh :nenau

Actually rick did extend the bumper, there is the perfect platform for a winch to be mounted :thumb2

I shall bite the bullet and get this me thinks, gotta be done for legal reasons, I can learn how to use it later :lol

You'll need to check the dimensions of the winch tray to make sure it fits the space you've got, otherwise you may have to take the grinder to it. Have you thought about how you're going to mount the tray?

and he means TO THE TRUCK not mount it as in well you know `mount it` :naughty

Hey it's right to clarify Steve, he does have a bondage rack bolted to the front of his truck :augie :p

Still awaiting the intriguing information to be supplied, regarding the `bondage`downloads..........you know the sorts of thing....knots......Alex`s front fenders...etc...:sly

Lol thanks guys. I will get the winch on order and worry about the tray tomorrow after some measurements. :thumb2
