horrible noise

my heater blower has started to make a horrible noise , it still works on all speeds , and blows hot air too , it gets even worse when i press the recirculate button ,even drowning out the radio !!!, its not as bad on the low speed settings , ......im guessing its a strip down jobbie ( mega expense ) ... or is it summat simple ?:nenau

Easy to get to 3 screws just in passengers footwell check its not frozen took one out other day that was water can get in there and freeze the fan solid he its broke i have some here

why does it get louder on recirculate then ? ..... i would have thought the noise would be fairly constant what ever the setting ?:nenau

Mine's louder on recirculate too - just thought it was the noise of the air being sucked in from the cabin rather than being brought in from outside (my car's different to yours tho).

whats it sound like? recirculate spins faster too i think, hence why it gets louder. sometimes i get a leaf stuck in my system in the Mazda mx6, that makes a right noise too...

its a bit hard to explain clive , its a bit like a really loud whirring /buzzing sorta noise , a bit like plaing a tune on a comb , but through a amplifier , or .. farting underwater

Sounds like something jammed in there leaves or something take out the fan see whats in there

er.... i actually have deep purples machine head album in the cd player at the mo

yup, my MX6 does the same, and its leaves. eventually it will just wear the leaf out and stop. Other option is to get a decent strength vac, and try to suck it through the various air vents on the dash, or through the vent outside under the window...

Havent got any pics but if you look up under the dash in passengers foot well you can easily see the fan its got one plug with 2 wires and 3 philips screws then it just drops straight out
