Ok,since doing a replacement of the front n/s caliper and pads things seemed ok. Today brakes seem to be sticking on n/s and this is causing it to pull to the right when braking. Autohub, disc is heating on the n/s . If the autohub is dodgy, could this be causing the the caliper to heat up and so cause the brakes to bind? The only things not changed on this side are the bearing and the autohub. I know you all love a challenge on a Sunday afternoon,so thinking caps on,chaps.

what did you use to service the caliper sliders , copper grease ?

are they sliding or sticking ?

my pug sliders seized recently and they are like chrome. with all the salt and crap on the roads it just cloggs everything up .

your prob looking and cleaning the sliders .

how is the wheel bearing is there much play in the wheels ?

Get the old alan keys out and take the auto hub off. Then remove the brake ring and spring, now assemble without the brake ring and spring. This will ensure that the hub will not get any drive at all so it will rule that out entirely.

Thanks for the help,I will have a look at the sliders but we just recently cleaned and greased them with copper grease.. The bearing does have a little play in it, I suspect the bearing but I will try removing the spring and brake rings to see if that helps. I do have another set of autohubs so I could change them over. Also this evening I was getting shake like when the balance is not right on the wheels at speeds between 25 to 60 mph. This then went away after a short time as suddenly as it came. I was driving the same stretch of road a few times but it wasn't always shaking so I ruled out the road surface. Should also say that the brake sticking problem is also intermittent and doesn't appear to be linked to speed or pressure of braking. I really suspect the bearing as the disc, caliper and autohub all get very hot.

wheel bearing or drive shaft (worn but not gone) for me

my pug is doing the very same thing now :thumbs

Thanks Colin, something else to check. If the shaft is going would that cause a shake in the steering?

yes it will . not massive but some .
my pug is shaking the whole car now but still not gone (broken)

but i guess for the drive shaft the hub would need to be locked in , or it wouldn't be moving
