I thought about swapping a complete hitachi engine setup for a bosch setup. I guess to to that i need a matched ecu and loom as hitachi seems not to be odb2?
I think you mean OBD2 , and not so mine is Hitachi and consult, Big job though! :thumbsI thought about swapping a complete hitachi engine setup for a bosch setup. I guess to to that i need a matched ecu and loom as hitachi seems not to be odb2?
To change from one to the other is certainly possible, but you will need a complete doner vehicle particularly if swapping to Bosch as you will need a box as well, personally I do not think it worth the bother, just changing the loom is a nightmare, Rick
Thanks guys. I might eventually do that. Just is not any rust in this one. Under carpet is fine, arches fine, seatbelt anchers are fine, even the front bumper mounts are fine
A cheaper option is a replacement Zexel engine, I have one if you require it, I was keeping it for myself but if you want it, it will pay for a recon pump for mine which is the only problem I have, the springs are failing and I get low down surging, but I can live with that, short term Rick
Rick I have a Bosch Pump if you need one from a 98
Thanks for the offer but mine is a Zexel that is why I was keeping the good engine as spare but would only go to the effort of changing it over or just the pump if mine packed up completely or got a lot worse than it is, but as most of my motoring is round town local low speed I can live with it, Rick
