Am I right in thinking that a Primera Hitachi MAF is the same as the Maverick/Terrano2 one? Loosk the same, same part number too.

Im having trouble finding a decent price for one...

Hi, If its the same part number as the one in your truck it should be ok. I bought a used onefrom ebay for £25 as a spare as I know the are quite rare. They are very easy to clean, 2 screws and the filaments pull out and the can be sprayed with switch cleaner, the job takes just six minuets. If want to know the part number on mine I will have a look on the morning. regards bri

are you sure they arent both Bosch?

the cleaning part I am ok with, its just I cleaned both the ones I have already, and they still look a little dirty to me, plus still throwing a code. I am hopefully going to try for a drive again at the weekend to see if my latest attempt at cleaning has worked or not. I am using some halfrods electrical cleaner, is that ok??

That should be ok, if the filaments are not shiny then you can clean them gently with a cotton wool bud with the cleaner on it. I believe the Hitachi was used in the t2 in only 1997,
the first of the TDi with the inter-cooler. bri

The MkII certainly used Hitachi, wifes 99-plate has one, but not sure if that was exclusive, but I still think the Primera one was a Bosch.....the Hitachi is £300-400 new.
