now im pretty sure this is an electrical fault somewhere, just wondered whether someone might be able to give me some pointers as to where to begin looking for it
for the last couple of weeks ive been getting some hesitation while not under load (as in if a rev the car hard in neutral). she hesitates quite badly while filling the drive way with white smoke. however when under normal driving she doesnt seem that bad, well ive noticed the turbo lag increase
from the indication of white smoke, im guessing thats theres not enough fuel getting into the system.
last month i went to wales, and a couple of earths broke off what i think was the injection pump (or something like that). before i realised that though, i changed the fuel filter, and checked the mini filter (which i couldnt see in there). now im just wondering whether i was suppost to 'prime' the injection pump to clear any air that might got in while the banjo bolt was off?
i was thinking that it might be the maf, but faulty mafs give you black smoke dont they? anyway, i want to replace it anyway, but cant find someone who sells hitachi ones on ebay (or anywhere on the internet), any pointers? when i did unplug the maf though, she did rev hard without hesitation. she only started smoking when i tried bouncing the throttle.
one last thing that makes me think its engine electrical is when i drive through deep water (bumper deep) a little fast, thats when shes really bad. shes soo gutless and smoky. i tried pulling my mates disco out the other day after i went through some water: i couldnt get enough torque not even in 1st low ratio!
like i said, i think whatevers giving me these issues is low down in the engine bay. any pointers are much appresiated. regards, tom
