Helps! EGR??

I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW...been covered a gazillion times, but i'm still not sure if I have EGR, so, here are two pics. First is of the solenoids. I have three, and the suspect pipe runs to a joint that branches off to the other three solenoids...

bear in mind i have a early 97 TDi.

so, if this is EGR, can I simply block it off at the part where it joins the junction to the other pipes near the solenoid??

help!! want to do this today!

yep you got an egr.... just pull the hose off. it wont work no more.

or follow the download with ball bearings

im hitachi maf yes. which side should i pulkl the hose off and blank, it suggests solenoid side?

Block the vaccum feed to the solonoids at source.

translation?? sorry, Id say that what you mean is unplug the pipe from the solenoid end, block it off, and plug it back in??

Indeed. Located the vacuum supply, remove said hose, block it with a ball bearing, and plug it back on.

Mind you dont block the supply to the throttling valve though.

crikey, ok, will try...but im sure the pipe that goes from the egr joins a sort of t junction, that then leads off to two of the solenoids. So now I'm not sure which is the correct solenoid!

exhaust gas regulator i think :nenau

exhaust gas recirculation valve to be exact - its an emissions thing that does what the name suggests, so good for the environment allegedly, but rubbish for the engine in most peoples opinion.
