put my patrol in for MOT 4 weeks ago.

not too bad:

centre exhaust £288 OE Nissan 8O

OSR anti roll bar drop link £39 OE Nissan :|

NSF wheel bearing and hub seals(?) £TBC :?:

However, and it's a seriously BIG however, the ball joint on the NSR drop link has excessive play and is an MOT failure. The problem is, on my model the droplink is replaced by a stabiliser release device. so what ? I hear you cry. well, this is where i'm really stuffed, because Nissan are quoting the replacement at £1421. OMG!! 8O :?

The unit is fine. It's just the ball joint on the end thats worn and my local dealer insists there is no service kit. surely there must be a way to service the unit ? am i being scammed ? has anyone come across this before ?

I don't know your model but the chances are nissan don't do any repair parts for that item. However look on the links page and speak to Milner Off Rd. If needs be to get you back on the road try a breakers yard or web site such as partsgateway.com

Hope this helps

you're right, of course. but i was hoping someone else had come across this before and say something like 'just replace the bush' or something. what really gets me angry is that it's just a small shocker/damper with a ball/knuckle joint to connect it to the rear anti roll bar. How can nissan justify £1421 ? surely its either a lifetime part in which case it should not fail, or it's a wearable item which should be serviceable. why throw away a part of such high value for the sake of a simple worn knuckle joint ? i suppose we should replace entire engines if the mounts are worn? replace whole body shells if door hinges drop ? im not niave, i expect to be stung, but OMG £1421. still in shock...

i have heard this before from someone in ireland, shocked me!
think i would be removing the rollbar completely, if its not fitted
it cant fail on condition, just pull it all off brackets and all!! job done!

Or could you replace the stabiliser release mechanism with a drop link for the other side. It does away with the disconnect which will be handy off road but for road work will be fine.

have considered that as my last resort.

surely the joint can be removed, like a track rod end, and re-bushed ? :?
