Hi guys, now the MOT work is complete and the truck will be back in for its retest next week I am considering selling my Terrano, but not sure what its worth....

It is a 1998 Nissan Terrano 2.7tdi with 203k miles
2 inch body lift, 31 inch tyres, snorkel, wheel spacers.

It is showing its age a little as you would expect for a truck of this age, both front wings are bubbling, but it has been a brilliant truck since I have owned it in about 2010 and I will be very sorry to see it go.....but I have no further use for it any more

can anyone give me an idea of what it might be worth?

Cheers
Stephen

Trouble is that it is worth more to you than anyone else. Will let you know what the insurance offer for ours if you like. Ours is the same age but 160k and lwb and standard setup.

yes I realise its worth more to me.....sentimental value and all that....:augie

what happened was last year I gave it to my daughter and the other week it failed the MOT and she freaked out and gave me it back, so I decided I could either sell its as spares or repairs for a couple of hundred quid or fix it and sell it for a little more.....

Would I be greedy asking for about a grand.....?

I personally think there are a few more years worth of running in it yet, or even better used as an off roader/ weekend toy

All the mods implies it has been used off road, so that halves the price straight away.

I recon my 1995 Mav with less than 98k miles is worth far more than yours, but it's all about condition and what life it has had.

The insurance company would rate it at less than £400, a full fuel tank and a new set of tyres and you are over that anyway.

If my Mav had to be sold, it would be over my dead body lol... :augie
I don't know who might be interested in buying it though.

I think the value is based on what work requires doing, for example..
if it needs work doing to the wings, -£200
if it needs new tyres, - £300
if it needs new exhaust, - £100
if it needs new brakes, -£150
new clutch...
welding to floor pan...
welding to sills...
you get my drift, so a much older vehicle could go for more.

If it is in pristine condition, it would still need a full inspection:nenau.

I think a realistic figure would be 500 to 600 but with some adverse weather conditions and you will probably get nearer the 1000 mark :thumb2

I agree with Craig here, tidy up the noticeably rough edges and you'll fetch what you want for it mate especially this time of year, I'd personally go 800-1000 for it.

I don't agree that just because it's been used off road that it instantly halves the value, thats just ludacris. I know if I sold mine now I'd make way more than what I paid for it including all the mods as they were all bargain basement.

What it's worth ?

The old saying that it is worth what someone will pay for it does not help but it's true.

I have found that a 4 x 4 vehicle with a years MoT should be worth £500 to a buyer who wants to buy one. Our old Terrano r3mR with quite bubbly front wings but mechanically sound with 11 months Mot sold for £500 to the trade.

I would not put money into an MoT fail that I owned in the hope of getting a better return. Leave that for the buyer, list it as a fail with the fail items listed, family owned for the last 6 years you might get a few bids.

Other option is someone on a site like this might go for it. Not sure what scrappers pay theses days but a couple of years ago it was £100-£200.

Well you see it's all about marketing...

When mine comes onto the market, the high price can then be justified lol...
:lol:lol:lol

500-600 , mileage might put quite a few off.

My r3mR had 152,000 Km plus a bit of damage to the rear quarter panel. You can't buy much for £500 that will tow a horse box.
Some 4 x 4 users just buy an old one as insurance for bad weather.

When I sold mine I supplied all the invoices of money spemt over the previous 5 years in a folder as part service history. When the buyer saw what I had spent to keep it on the road it no doubt helped him shift it easily.
