Morning all.

So yesterday i went on a work course from london to birmingham and back, about 120 miles each way, needless to say the drive was a little quick around 4,000rpm for a majority of the journey (you do the math) :augie

Hopped on my motorcycle this morning and wheeled down the drive to see a small leak now on the floor underneath the block itself...

I must admit i didnt look there yesterday when i got home so someone else may have parked there whilst i was away.. :nenau

The car is coming into work tomorrow for the A/C hopefully. Could you guys suggest possible/common leaks from the block area.

I will confirm what the leak is today after work, the old sniff and lick test :lol

Was it oily or watery dude?

If its coolant and in the centre just below front of car then the chances are its the water pump. If its black and from the os of the engine then may very well be the leak off pipes from the injectors. Mines making like a landrover with this later leak.

if your truck has aircon , it could be from that ..... mine had a little black pipe pointing to the floor from the aircon

Good point pete, when my early terrano ac worked there was a water drip on the passenger side below bulkhead area if i remember right

A/C is empty as an empty thing :lol

Leak off pipes were done with Rick about 1 month ago :thumb2

I didnt have a very close look as i had all my bike gear on rucksack ect but it looked browny/goldy colour from what I could see. And quite central if not slightly to the Nearside of the block.

I dont think it looked like coolant but I may be wrong :(

EDIT -- OH and the size of the patch of fluid was about the same size as a mobile phone on the floor (Iphone/Galaxy sized)

You need to dip kitchen towel into it, smell, look, then dip it in a jar of water, to see if it is oily or not.
Then crawl underneath have a look.:nenau

Don't assume your leak off pipes are perfect, heat changes a lot of things, and jubilee clips or similar press into the soft pipes then you can get a leak.

Check under the gear box, rear of the engine, then look at clutch fluid levels, then leaky fuel lines.

The oil might have come from the lower engine cover, which you might need to remove to have a better look.

What recent work have you done, or had done in that area which might account for some of it?:nenau

The only recent thing in regards to the fluids is leak off pipes. everything else has been on for ages. We didnt use clips on my leakoff pipes as most terranos are clipless and it is not a pressurised system :nenau
My old ones did however have clips on.

Failing that havent done any work to it atall.

The best answer still would be from another vehicle, but nobody tends to park where I do...

Place a sheet of cardboard under the car whilst parked for a few hours and see what drops on to it.

Check tightness of the oil filter too and was any spillage last time oil was changed.
