Hi everyone, i'm new to the forum, and just bought my first Maverick :thumbs, however, when I took it for a test drive I was in the middle of Edinburgh, and couldn't get over 30mph, however, once I'd bought it I was driving back home, and when I get to about 50mph there is an alarming vibration through the steering  the steering feels very vague. I can accelerate past this, but the vibration is still there. Any ideas? I think the vehicle is awesome, but this is really putting me off it.

Appreciate your help!!!

hello Korkytcat, first check your tyres for damage, jack vehicle and check the wheel bearings for play, and look for any other ball joints that my be worn, then maybe wheels need balancing, or if the mot is due put it in now and see if they find any faults. some of the other members will be along later and there will be more info for you. :thumbs:naughty

Thanks Tezzer, I'll get these checked, I do notice excessive wear on the front nearside tyre, whilst all the other tyres are fine and have the same level of tread. One of my frustrations has been that the vehicle was only MOT's 4 weeks ago!! so I was expecting everything to be fine. The vehicle goes into 4x4 fine, but I don't hear the click when I take it back out and reverse :confused:wasn't sure if this had anything to do with it. I'm quite confident working on cars, but this is a whole new ball game to me :eek:lol

P.S thanks for the warm welcome :thumbs

one more thing you can check is the propsharft u/j's, and they can be greased. :thumb2

usually balancing if you can exce;erate through it.... but look at all the ball joints there are 6 between the wheels

But if you have an oddly worn tyre, get alignment checked as well.
