when your off road don't forget to wrap it in cling film to keep the mud at bay :augie
Retiring the Mav from the muddy stuff ,getting fed up with cleaning it ;O)
hmm thats the only issue i can foresee.
why did you not go for the cheaper in your existing airbox k&n filter.
and not rusk the mud and splash issue
Read the blurb on K&N site about how the airbox resticts the airflow. Really fitted it as I do a lot of towing and in this hot weather the car is struggling a bit.
Intercooler fan really helps at lower speeds too.
Got to say our's is alot better for the K&N, which as no air box.Problem is, with no airbox, you now have alot of hot air from the engine bay (less dense), so the net result will be the same if not worse than you had before.

Get the old air filter casing modded to fit, and a decent sized cold air pick up tube fastened to it.
