Well I hope so ;O)

Fitted a K&N induction kit today but had no time to drive it . Left it on tickover for a while and it does seem to be getting louder, probably as it sucks the oil out. Got a long drive on Thursday so can give it a good try out.

Read the blurb on K&N site about how the airbox resticts the airflow. Really fitted it as I do a lot of towing and in this hot weather the car is struggling a bit.

Problem is, with no airbox, you now have alot of hot air from the engine bay (less dense), so the net result will be the same if not worse than you had before.

Get the old air filter casing modded to fit, and a decent sized cold air pick up tube fastened to it.

Intercooler fan really helps at lower speeds too.

How right you were Timbo.

The car has been fantastic with the K&N fitted but as soon as I put the caravan on the back and found the hills in Cornwall the temperature rocketed. Hills that I normally fly up had the car down to 30mph and smelling VERY hot ;O(

The K&N is now in the modded air box as you suggested. Only wish I'd listened at the time ;O(
